THE TICKS ARE BAD AGAIN THIS YEAR. HEED THIS WARNING!
If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up,
DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!!
They only want to see you naked.
I wish I'd gotten this yesterday... I feel so stupid.

DH has been out in the field for alot of training the past few wks. When he comes home he keeps trying to get me to check him for ticks. I tell him quit being a weeny he only has freckles, no ticks. Maybe you will have to get some more guineas, Cowboy. DH gave me the green light to increase our free range flock to 50 & keep a pen of fancy colors. We will down size when we run out of bugs for them to eat.

WHooohoooo our first egg has started to hatch! We had 6 move to the hatcher out of 14 that we set, 5 I know never started developing. Jackson was so excited last night he had to come get me up at 11pm and tell me there was a chick in the incubator chirping and trying to get out of it's shell, lol. It is a little banty cochin from some auction eggs. The other eggs haven't started yet but I saw movement in at least 2 of the others when I moved them to the hatcher. I tried to talk to this little guy this morning before I left for work, he peeped at me and worked a tiny bit on zipping. I hope he makes it out Jack will be disapointed if not. Sorry about the crappy picture I only had a few mins before leaving for work.

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I last posted.

I am looking for some bourbon red turkey hens or fertile eggs. My lone hen isn't laying regularly and I want babies.

I also still have some silver duckwing OEGB hens for sale, $10 each. They are laying.

I might also consider selling some of my NN hens, $10 each. They are also laying.

I will be in Tuttle today and can pick up turkeys or eggs this afternoon. I will be driving I40 from the western part of the state.

Call or text me at 580-275-9445, if interested.

our guinea guys should take care of it around here, any i find on the dogs i toss to the chicks....

Thank you, Carl :) There's different hatch dates on the eggs I've got now, hopefully I can work it out to fit them in one of these 2 incubators so you won't have to do it for me. I still hate to risk it myself though, I'm too new at hatching.

Oh crap. I should've followed my instincts and shut the door on them. I hope the neighbors didn't see

Good morning everyone!

Busy day today....going to play in the garden after replacing the broodie girls nasty nests with clean material. Will set each hen on the ground for a while to let them exercise and...ahhh... clean out their systems.

.

Will have eggs coming from Carl's hatcher soon too....their brooder tubs are all set and ready.

Daughter and family have moved into their brand new house so we will be bagging up some compost to take to them Saturday for an herb garden. We wiill help them plant some fruit trees he ordered. Need to get the compost bagged before this next rain. Roger used the tractor to push up the nice compost piles and also made new piles from hay and manure....those are smoking from the heat build-up!

Guess I need to contact Michael Daugherty about meeting him on Sunday at Mary's Swap to pick up the two white cochin hens...with all the storms we have had and long work hours, we haven't yet been able to connect.. Maybe this weekend

Nana, I love the white Cochins.
Robin, I forgot to tell you-when the 2nd set of *wing feathers start coming in (not the primary ones they were born with) you can sex the Fav babies. I posted some clear pictures on the Fav thread when mine were 10 days old, #3 and #6 were the boys. The Blue Salmon boy kept me guessing since his feathers came in gray. The girls secondary wing feathers come in tan/butterscotch colored and the boys come in black (or blue if Blue Salmon).

ok, will pay attention to the second set- they are a riot to watch.... there is always one that gets sidetracked and then can't find the rest....their little legs just fly trying to catch up
