Wayne I will bring some to NEOCS for you, If Tony O's suggestion works I will have some pots of starts there also, That will indeed be cool and provide a ton of cuttings, I'f you think about it I'd like to talk you out of a few of the snake gourd seed when you come this way.Elwood if you have any of that cane left after poops pease bring some to the June meet and put my name on a few sprigs. I love growing things like that.
We are finally getting some munch needed rain tonight. I set out some wave petunias today so maybe they will have a good start!
Thanks Tony I'll be trying this, Would you leave the bamboo section with the node in the middle long or shorten it closer to the node? Since some nodes have starts coming out on 2 or more places around the node can you split the bamboo lengthwise to separate the different shoots? I could get lucky and have some started by POOPS this way but most likely since that's just around the corner root sections will be bestQuote:
If you cut the cane between each node where the little plantlets are trying to grow, you can root each one. Shove them straight down in some loose soil so where the part growing off the cane is about an inch below the soil level with the leaves facing up above ground. Water well and don't let them dry out this summer. Treat them just like you would seedlings and you'll have plenty on new plants to plant, trade or give away. Would make a great privacy fence too.BTW, They'll root in water too. Just takes longer for them to get established when you plant them out.![]()
I think so too, I have some containers that should work for rooting them in soil it would make the ones I bring to NEOCS have a better chance to survive transplanting,Quote:
Sounds like a neat experiment.
Did you get the gourd seed I sent to you? I had forgot to ask LOL should have arrived with the bulletin board.
