Poco pollo are you milking your goats yet? I love the concept of milk goats just not ready for the obligation.
We fenced a portion of our woods for the goats. They cleared their small pen in about a month. DH built another pen 4 times that size not sure how long it will take them to clear that area. I am sure they will end up with a part of the pasture before long. We want to be able to do rotational grazing, but it is a work in progress.
Curious to see how your boer cross turn out. Our boers are the ones who are always climbing on stuff, eating the trees & causing mischief. Our fainting goats are much better behaved..... But the boers are much prettier & have nicer coats.

Quick post before heading off. The brown baby hatched yesterday, the yellow hatched overnight. That should be it for a few days unless there are some early birds. The little brown one is so cute! So far it's my favorite. Hope it's a girl.

Kass,all their combs look so similar (except the black) that it's really really hard to tell. I'd resort to how they act if it were me. Chest bumping is definitely a male trait, standing way up tall when they hear something also would point to male. But that's just in my limited experience. I notice you named them. Cardinal sin, Kass. How are you going to eat something with a name? haha!

The poor girl. I'd let her have the babies, I wouldn't have the heart not to. If they're on medicated feed and only with her I wouldn't worry about them getting something. I would think it'd gradually build up their immune system without just exposure to the one hen instead of being exposed to all the other adults at once. If she wants to adopt them more power to her lol

I put the new OEGB cockerel with an OEGB pullet who's had to live with the Silkies because the other OEGB girls pick on her. These 2 are in love. He's such a darling little thing. Just learning to crow so it sounds really pathetic (even my Serama rolled his eyes when he heard it, I swear). He also has this bow-legged waddle when he walks like his legs are too far apart. But he's so sweet to the little OEGB girl and she finally has someone that dotes on her, it's made me like him all the more. I may just make the 2 of them their own living quarters instead of adding the other girls. They're such a cute couple just like the Modern pair.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, sounds like he is going to move in with his son for a while and then his daughter. Haven't talked to my mother in law yet to ask how she's dealing with it, this is her closest brother. His daughter said they seem to have found a good combination to curb the pain so that is a plus!

Structural engineer just left and said everything under our place looks great. Had a great discussion about crooked realtors, bankers, and engineers while he was here. Very interesting.

Got home late last night so no time to check on birds for myself. I did run through the normal list of "did this get done" since in my mind no one takes care of the feather babies like I do, lol. Then Nathanael tells me they were turning eggs in the incubator and they could hear chirping! Well 8 guinea eggs went into the hatcher on Sunday and we have chirping coming from in there! Sooooo hopefully a few will hatch. Our first hatch on our own didn't go to grand IMO since we set 6 eggs to hatch and only one hatched. Upon opening the unhatched 2 were fully developed just didn't make it out of the egg. They were banty cochins too

. Praying this hatch with the guineas goes better. Next ones to move will be Thursday and they are a mixed bunch of Marans and Sexlinks.

Ksane, I have only named the ones I know I'm not eating, Reba I am 99 % sure is female, Shakespear will be my flock roo, and Ms. White while I'm sure she is a boy, I'm holding out hope that she is a girl, if so YIPEE, if not Poco will take him back for breeding since he is so big and has such a bare neck. I have name ideas if any of the rest are girls, the barred ones will be shakesperian women, and the black ones will be female names associated w/ E. A. Poe.

You might want to paint the tire white or some light color due to the fact that in the direct sunlight the tire will heat up a lot and this can change your ground temperture a lot, just use some old house paint or whatever you have, mabe paint a design on it for pretty!!! Just sayin!! Lynn
