Tina, Sam says, "Hi! back atcha" and he loves his new cage mate. I guess he just likes big girls.
I opened the cage door this morning, but neither of them have ventured outside at all today. They are perfectly contented to sit in that cage and watch the world go by. Some of the bantam cochin youngsters have ventured in there to see what's going on, but Sam runs them back out. He isn't letting anyone in there but his big blue girl friend.
Chicken magic, indeed. If Sam can make Kevin Hall admit that he actually likes chickens, I may have to change his name again, to Miracle Worker! But, it's just nearly impossible to watch the little guy without smiling.
Buster, it looks like you have a pretty good security force there. I hope they can keep the varmints at bay. We have a mutt and a blue heeler/australian shepherd that stay out at night. So far, they have been able to keep everything from skunks and racoons to coyotes and bobcats away from the yard. It probably helps that our entire yard is fronted with a big pond so access is limited from that direction. The varmints do get some of the barn cats, but I'm sure it's because they go hunting at night instead of staying in the barn where it's safe. Keeps the population under control, though. I don't have a good snake dog, either, but my "chicken compound" is lined with sheet metal laid sideways and so far I haven't had a problem. The 12 gauge takes care of the copperheaded-rattle-water-mocs that come across the pond.
Nanakat, that is an adorable baby cochin! Does it need a new home??????
Sooner, if you would like some hibiscus, I have more of the Texas Star (and, yes, it is red) and also more of the Confederate Rose which blooms pink in the morning and turns red by evening, or blooms white and turns pink. At any rate, it changes color! I love hibiscus, too. I can't say they are my favorite, though, because I love so many flowers I could never choose just one.
Mitzi, I'm sure glad your baby is doing better. We've all been worried about her, whether we say anything or not. Dollar signs don't count for much when you love something.
Well, I'd better get back to the weedeater. This week is my gardening and yardwork catch up week.
