***OKIES in the BYC III ***

This is Dexter who was suppose to be a blue ameraucana.......really curious as to what she will look like when she is an adult. I guess she is a splash but all I see are white ones when I google it. Then again I'm no expert here and don't know if they just change color as they get older or what.

Now these three live in my room. They have fresh water and food and they are eating. But they are not putting on any weight. They are just bones. I put in the save a chick stuff the guy at the feed store gave me. But what else should I do??? I don't want to lose them. And when I put them outside they huddle in a corner and don't move. The other chicks beat them up bad. My red stars and silkies pay them no mind. But the brahma and other am's are just mean!! I don't get it.

My husband likes all animals, but he doesn't want me to get any goats even pygmy while we live in town.

I'm surprised my husband is as huge a fan of pygmys as he is. But we both fell in love with them and are anxious to bring "the babies" home. Looks like next weekend. Chickens and goats - what could be better. So how many chickens do you have in town?

We have 17 adult chickens and 11 young ones. We are only keeping the females of the young batch and one male. There are no restriction in Henryetta, just for smell, that's what the code officer told me. I want about 30 ish for both laying and meat, just have to get over the killing hurdle.

I use my chickens for gardening.

for now i wouldn't put them with others- since it obviously stresses them out- here is a recipe for boosting their nutrition some- how old are they?

I haven't managed to jump that hurdle. And my husband is a vegetarian so we won't be needing meat birds - just looking forward to lots of eggs. I'd like to free range my birds but we have 4 big dogs and too many predators to count so just not going to happen. But they have a huge run and I'm using the compost to garden so it works well. We were busy building the barn for the goats and got a very late start this year with the garden so I don't know how it will do. I keep reading about all the auctions and poops, etc. that are around so one of these days I'll get brave, venture out and add to the flock.

Hi, newby here. I am in Broken Arrow. I only have 1 rooster, 2 hens and 2 baby chicks. I believe the adults are Blue Cochins, not sure what are the baby chicks.

And to the Okie thread...hang'in with rough crowd, bet you end up with a lot more birds than you want.

I'm South of Glenpool, so we're essentially neighbors!

I have never been to an auction either, and this June will be my first ever chicken gathering of any kind.
