***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ok so we bought 16 barred rock chicks back in Jan. at auction, they all turned out to be black australorps, so bought more and guess what now, oh they are barred alright but 2 look like this, grrrr (I think they are adorable I love the little muffs, but they are NOT pure BR's like I thought) So now I need to find barred rock hatching eggs or chicks. Need pure BR, prefer chicks but will take eggs if anyone knows of any.

barring pattern is differant along with the comb, but i cant remember what it is supposed to look like.

Dominiques would work too, we are trying to breed more sexlink chicks and right now I have 8 BR hens but need a younger lot to start raising now. Do you have Dominiques? Or know where I can find them as chicks? I love the barring pattern it is so pretty and adds a bit of a change from the Marans we have. Looks like I am going to have to build a "mutt pen" for all my misfits that won't be breeding this year,

I totally have Dominiques. Unfortunately, I can't spare any chicks right now. I am building up my flock after having to depopulate completely last year. I don't even have hatching eggs right now as everything is trying to go broody. I will have birds later in the summer or in the fall when I figure out who my breeders are going to be next year.

I'm no help. I am trying to seduce people away from the Barred Rock and onto the American Dominique.

A barred rock has a crisp black and white barring. A barred rock also has a straight comb. A Dominique has a smuttier, slate blue on dove gray barring with a rose comb. I suspect what you have there has some cuckoo marans or dominique genetics in the not too distant past.

yeah, I have a problem area way out back that is overgrown with weeds. I have a hen house that I can convert easily enough for a pair of goats and I need their help with the weeds. If you don't think they'll be an escape risk, I think I might look for a pair pygmies. Do you know who might have some for sale at a reasonable price?

Also, Privett Hatchery in New Mexico has some decent Doms as far as hatcheries go.

I would only do fainting goats, if you are wanting to aviod escapes. They don't jump or escape (unless there is a hole). Pygmys will escape by jumping-- but I'd you insist on pygmys mike has a very cute pair running around with their momma, sure he would sale them. They were adorable!!! Only a wk old at most.
My fainting goats are much better behaved than my boers. DH is ready to butcher the boers but they are DD "pets" so that won't happen.

Our goats have close to an acre fenced in the woods. The 5 of them cleared it out in a few wks. May just want to borrow a few goats.
