***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello,

Is there anybody in the Blanchard area that would be kind enough to hatch a dozen eggs for me? I'm more than willing to pay for the space in the incubator and your time.

Thanks
If no one closer offers I will be @ Blanchard auction next wk & my DD would be more than happy to hatch the eggs. Okracefan - hope you enjoy your new change of pace. Work is over rated. And please have a long talk with my DH when you see him at an auction. Tonight he came home & did a few things after work & he finally said out loud there is no way I will be going back to work after I retire I guess. First time he has ever actually agreed to that. Our lives are plenty busy, a full time job after retirement is the last thing he needs! I just have to hang on for 5 more yrs.

Ok fellow peeps. I am now looking for a LF Black Cochin Rooster. If u hear anything of anything let me know please. I decided to change jobs, after 61/2 yrs of working 12 hour days in a very physical job. Decided that the big $$$$ was not worth the lost time. i gues it is just another step in simplifying my life. Now I can finally focus more on my birds and land. Is that actually simplifying?
Yes. it's simplifying and you'll be glad you did it. Bo said he was going to have some of his Cochins at the next Newcastle sale, I thought. He's got Blacks. The darker they are the bigger it seems. I've got a super dark blue cockerel that's just now 10 months old and he's huge. He looks huge to me even and I see him every day. I wonder why the darker ones are always so much bigger?

One of my two hens, just a month after the chick was born started laying eggs again! It is every other day, but it is something. If the same happens for the other hen, it will be two more weeks. The only problem is that this second hen (Sue) does not hang out with the rooster as Henny Penny does. Just happy to know I dont have to buy eggs at the store for some time. Wonder when these hens will go broody again...
If they're Cochins it'll be any day now lol

So today we learned that barb wire fencing catches owls & deer netting catches snakes.

Also found out that Porter Hill will no longer have a poultry auction. Just a misc household auction on 1st & 3rd Fridays @7. It can be removed from the auction list & so can the Walters auction.
What happened to the auctions? inquiring minds need to know LOL Have you got an update on the Owl yet?

No update on the owl, last time I took this lady a critter I didn't get any updates. It really looked alert & energetic when I dropped it off. I think with some stitches & antibiotics it should be well. No muscle was torn only skin. The auctions -- well Walters was shut down by the city council. Porter Hill stopped because the auction wasn't successful. They could have had a good thing, but the first auction was so bad most didn't go back for a 2nd time. The next auction they said went better but couldn't get good enough prices to please sellers so almost everything was PO. The demand for a local auction is here, but the place doesn't seem to pan out.

I know the feeling - after five years of teaching Middle School, I don't know if I will go back to teaching ever.
Good Luck and enjoy!
