Im new to this chicken stuff... lol any suggestions?
Don't worry about building the coop before you get the chicks, you will just need to build a bigger one anyhow if you hang around here long enough

I personally just started out with a half dozen laying hens I bought from a friend (and a rooster) and then got hooked on chicks at Atwoods. Over the past several months I've researched breeds and decided which I like best and what I want to raise. It all depends on what you want chickens for-- eggs, meat, or just 'cause! I got lucky and was able to trade my layers for the breed I really wanted at the time. It all works out-- the only limits you have will be how much room you have to build yet another pen.!

Well we are finally getting some good showers this afternoon. Then its supposed to turn off hot in the ninetys for a while. Had to go to urgent care and get three stitches in my palm. I was cuuting open gourds for seeds and the new pocket knife slipped! I was collecting seeds so I can bring them in june. I have been amiss in sending out seeds so thought I would bring a bunch and let people help them selves! I will have the cajun okra or luffa which ever it is,big bottle neck gourds for bird houses, dinosaur dipper gourds, snake gourds, hyacinth beans, castor beans and what ever else I can find that I have collected. Maybe someone can use some of them.
Been haveing problems keeping baby chicks alive with the dampness we have had lately. Got them on medication now so hope they will start thriving again after this rainy spell.
Picking up some new bunnys tomorrow. They are hareliquin dutch. I love the hareliquin patterns and got rid of mine because they were so big and heavy eaters. Hopefully the dutch will be smaller feeders since they are so small.
Guy sounds like you will be tomatoe king later this summer. Bet you will have lots of friends then!lol

I may need some more cajun orka in June. I planted all you gave me, but they are not thriving at all, not sure if I shaded them to much or what, but I have no doubt they are not happy where I put them. My caster beans and hyacinth beans are doing really well, both are very pretty plants.

What are you looking for?
Egg layers?
Yard ornaments?
Bug eaters?
Friendly good looking

Small or Big birds?

For a small quite egg layer try a bantam Wyandotte or Bantam cochin, both are quite friendly, easy going and lay an egg nearly the size oif the large bird without as much of a feed bill.

Yard ornamants and bug eaters the door is wide open.
