***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Its true! I have never met a normal orange cat!
? - I have known them to be mellow and realy "people" cats, esp. the toms. Where you getting these means orange cats?

Here's the little Cochin bantam boy from MJ. He looks so funny with his feathers half grown in but I can already tell he's going to be just beautiful when he's grown.
MJ, this is the only one that lived out of that group of 5.The others didn't grow and just gradually wasted away and died. I got 4 Pheonix that same night at Newcastle & lost 2 of them also. I really think they got exposed to something at the auction and all were so tiny they couldn't fight it off. The ones that did fight it off seem real healthy though. This boy is so gorgeous I just have to keep him after all. I swore I wasn't going to keep any males of that batch but he's SO pretty (well, he will be!) with all his leg feathers. There's no way I want to part with him now.
I'm sorry you lost all of those chicks!
That little boy should be very shiny, lots of green irridescence in this daddy. I thought Black cochins were boring whan I first got birds but now - that red, red comb and wallte is sure pretty with green-black.

Okay...here are Tweety and Chad (I will change names)...the two goslings. You can see Teety's knee in the photo...Tweety is white and Chad is gray.
They spent their first w months of life inside a dog crate in a child's room.....
I have them settled in a large cage with a tub of water and hay as well as feed for tonight. These two have never had anything but duck starter and have never been on grass nor had a tub of water in which to bathe.
They will be spending time with me in the garden under a tree with plenty of fresh air tomorrow.
they got clipped grass and shreded brocolli leaves for niacin.
Tweety has knee issues...like the beginnings of a slipped tendon but could be excessive handling by a 4 year old or lack of vitamins and niacin and sunshine and fresh air and stimulus and ....the list goes on.

awe their kind of cute, for a goose. To bad they grow into adult geese, I don't like geese, lol. Glad they found a home with you where they can live outside like they should.

I am mainly only afraid of power saws. All of my life people would say things like "those saws will jump right out of your hand", etc. talking about circular saws. I have seen many men lose a finger by being in a hurry or careless too. I think one day I will try using a table saw instead. Of course I will need instructions. Another thing is I don't want to be out there alone using a power saw I know nothing about, just in case it gets out of control. LOL

Then get a jigsaw. They cut a little slower then the circular saws do but they still get the job done. The key to using any tool is to keep the blades sharp and the saw in good condition. Too much pressure will be used trying to get a dull blade to go through the work and that can lead to loss of control.

Just ordered another 300+ feet of electric poultry netting. Time to move the eggmobile to the back pasture!
Where do you order yours from? I am considering this for some coops in our pasture. Dh and I keep talking about putting up a pen out there but I don't want something that I might not want there next year. I want my girls to free range but to many predators without a fence. Even then I will still have to worry about overhead predators but at least a coyote won't be able to just come get a snack anytime he wants it.

Morning all. Cute goose. DD is back to normal gotta work till three then go pick black berries then spend the rest of the evening cooking jelly. After juicing yesterday took all the pulp scraps to the chickens and they loved it. Went crazy. Happy chickens.

On the orange cat discussion our two kittens are tuxedo and orange. The orange is a male and very relaxed and chilled, the tuxedo is a female and a whirling dervish (not in a mean way). We had named them pebbles and bambam, which is still their names we just reversed it and call the female bambam. They are still young and plenty of time for pebbles (orange) to go crazy. lol

A friend in Tennessee ask me a question that someone on here may have the answer to. He said he was driving through a small town not on any map but they had a general store, filling station,an auction barn and a small flea market. At the flea market an old man was selling chickens and guineas and what really caught his eye was some chickens that were feathered in exotic colors, like jungle parrots that you sometimes see. He told him they were chickens and not what they looked like. He wanted $35.oo a piece but you had to buy two. He said he passed but has regretted it every since. They were the most beautiful birds he's ever seen. He was hoping we could tell him what kind of chickens they were. Any ideas?
Maybe just really colorful Phoenix?

Good morning all, it is very overcast here this morning, the wind is down for now and it is getting a little muggy here in NC Okla. on the cat issue, we have around 20-30 cats running around, last year we had a set of 4 kittens that was born, 3 orange ones and one black, their name are Stumble (Orange male), Fall(orange male),Trip (orange male) and Crosseyed (black female), of the four the black female keeps the rest in line, the three orange boys are all lovers and just want to be under your feet or in you lap no matter where you are !!!! We have quite the variety of cats, when we moved here 6 years ago we brought 6 females and 2 males, all Bob tailed Manx blood cats, we have had kittens of every color, we looked into getting some of the cats fixed but it is cheaper to give the kittens away, that is the ones that make it, we have problems keeping kittens, I thinks the coyotes and the pairs of owls and pair of Redtail hawks we have get a lot of them. This is one of the reasons we keep our chickens penned, that and I have a lot of different breeds and have a lot of roosters which do not play well with others, plus i don't think the people of the church next door would see the humor in a rooster crowing on their car or settin in chicken poo on their way into church! So far we get along with our neighbors and want to keep it that way! Well have a great day all! Lynn
