Ha! I will have to try to get a video of it. It doesn't happen very often. Just every once in a while if an egg has been laid outside the nest box. She has a sense of tidiness about her. "No, that doesn't go there. That goes HERE!" Right now I won't be posting very many videos because my sd card died in my phone and I can't use my camera. The only other camera I have doesn't do video, only stills. I sometimes steal my husband's phone for video when he's home, but he really doesn't understand why I need "another" chicken video. Silly man!

I can honestly say I have never seen a chicken do that. How funny! You are really gonna have to get that on video. I used to raise silkies about ten years ago and they were great layers and setters. They hatched anything I put under them, only problem was, you could only put about 4 eggs under them cause they are so small. I love them. They are the sweetest chickens but they didn't seem to fear predators or anything when they were out free ranging and that scared me so I didn't let them out that much.

No, they really don't. I actually got rid of the first pair of silkies I had. They were partridge silkies and so sweet, but I was free ranging then, and that little rooster called and called and called until he got four hawks circling my property. I actually returned them to the breeder. I have some bantams now, but only keep them in a tractor. No ranging for them.

Well, I want an orange cat that isn't crazy! I think they're beautiful cats, but have never been around one that wouldn't just as soon attack you as look at you. I better not get one though. My husband hates cats and we already have two.

This is the master coop we built a month ago. a two story that is built out of pallets. My ten year old drew up the blue prints for it.

The fancy door you see is an old one and we used an old swing set frame to mount the door!

This is the one i built on my own. We call it serama cottage. It can be moved like a tractor. I have a lil more painting to do but just had to show it. this is made out of pallets and odd bits too!

DD is felling much better we went out and picked plums and sand plums and then juiced them we now have 3 gallon of plum juice and 1 gallon of sand plum juice. Tomarrow is work till 3 then black berry picking then juicing. Then lots of jelly making how fun. I'm beat so much going on don't know how I'm gonna get it all done. I need 5 extra hours in the day. I give it to them until they are about 3-4 months old, then I gradually start adding a little cracked corn and later on they get laying pellets. I don't bother with the chicken scratch cause they waste the milo in it and it doesn't seem to be as good as the laying pellets. I used to raise Pekins. It is possible it could be an illness with the knee though so start checking out the types of illnesses that can possibly affect them. Good luck with them. They are adorable.
Did you ever have any with a niacin deficiency? I think I'm adding vitamins to their water, brewer's yeast sprinkled on their feed and lots of dark green leafy greens. Poor babies. Fixing up a bigger swimming tub too. Thinking of changing Tweety's name to Ninya means Little Girl in Spanish. Have to find a better name for Chad..not sure if it's a boy or girl. Don't even know the variety yet.

I had an orange cat when I was growing up. He was long haired and the sweetest thing...lived to be 18. My mom called him "The Cat" but I called him Paunchy. He would actually carry on a conversation with you....allow you to talk and then he would talk....it was really cute.

Elie Mae...Great work on the plum juice. I ended up withabout 5 gallons of juice. Yes, the birds love the pulp!

Love the coops, glad to see we aren't the only ones to reuse a storm door on our coops. We had a few and took the windows out and covered the window area with wire. It is nice to reuse something otherwise just sitting and rusting.

Love the little chickies. Did you give the one a bath? We have one that has it little fuzz all matted up I need to give him another bath but he hates it so much!

yeah i was thinking maybe a red cochin, that's one thing that's fun about ordering specials with a variety, getting to see what they grow up to be

i moved my standard cochin babies and my 2 muscovy babies outside to a small coop yesterday, and in a few more weeks they will move into a big chicken house with a big chicken yard

i was a little nervus about them spending there first night outside but they all did good.

I always stress over babies first night outside. Shoot my guinea keets have been outside for a good 2 weeks and I still worry about them. Their little small temp. coop is outside my bedroom window so I check on them at all hours of the night to make sure their little light is on, lol.
