I would like to take a minute to say a HUGE thank you to Okieridge for meeting me after work with those beautiful eggs for my broodie BA hen. I got home marked them and took them out with me to feed and gather. There she was sitting on the unfertilized eggs...I got her up she went to eat and drink and take a quick dust bath...while I played a quick switcharoo. She looked under there saw that I didn't take her eggs this time and the look on her face was priceless! I don't think I have ever seen a happier hen! She ran cooing and chortleing the whole way back to those eggs....then she went to talking to them while she settled in. It was absolutely awesome. I will move her and the eggs to a brooder once I am absolutely sure she has taken to them well enough to still sit should I change her environment. She was soooo happy! Thank you so much! We both appreciate it :)

Christina, way to wear out the kids! lol I'm glad it was enjoyable and worth it to you.
IvyBlaze, what a sweet story!
I have 4 pipped Araucana eggs and here I thought none of them were any good because all I could see was dark in the eggs and no movement. Yet I have *4* pipped! These were from shipped eggs 3 wks ago. I'm so dang anxious to hatch some Brown Red Araucana from the pair I got from Joe. I've got 3 different breeds with the Brown Red color now.

I really wanted those blue gold laced cochins to darn it. This is the first time iv ever cryed over broken eggs.
I know how you feel . I accidentally murdered 15 Ameraucana eggs that I wanted really bad.

I love this guy. I know this is a common color but it's certainly my favorite color anyway.

Well went by Lowes and got 10 more of those plastic fence posts (found out they are for electric fences lol). Then came home and put up another free range pen for the cuckoo grow out hoop house and extended the one for one of the other pens. Let 5 pens of birds out to get some time on the grass, they loved it and I loved sitting out there watching them. Only had one escapee, of course it was a barred rock roo I was tempted to leave him out. I have 10 roos out of 15 barred rock chicks, grrrr. So we are going to have to either process some roos or take a bunch to auction. We just can't have that many roosters running around here. I don't mind the little banty roos they earn their keep and seem to have found peace among each other so I don't have fights but I don't think the LF roos will work out that way. So if anyone needs a Buff Orp roo, Black Aust. roo or a barred rock roo holler they will be cheap! LOL

Almost forgot got another 5 gallon waterer used tonight and Buster darn if you weren't right, my hens and one other pen emptied those 5 gallon waterers must just not have been warm enough until today for them to do it in one day, lol.

I am darn tired trying to do two coops at the same time and keep up with the rest of life. I have my new one half constructed today. Think im gonna make this one the cochin castle. Kinda excited bout it. Got moms door put on so all that is left is to fence her run and get the latch for the door. Then one coop will be done. The bad part of my day. Boy found where i hid some hatching eggs. Sister left him in the garage while i was building. Went to take nails out of boards and found him stomping in yolks telling me egg broke! s I really wanted those blue gold laced cochinto darn it. This is the first time iv ever cryed over broken eggs. cathie the chicks are doing great found some homes and have kept a few for my self.
