For a long time I had pics turned off, but kept feeling like I was missing out. I have learned that seeing pics of other peoples birds makes you desire birds that you didn't even know you needed! So does auctions.

Well I don't have a snake problem here.  Haven't ever seen one here honestly and not sure they could get in with the way I have things secured.

The only chicken coop I have seen that is snake proof is my freezer.

Jcatblum, I didn't even know turning off pics was an option. I'll have to check that out.

I would like to take a minute to say a HUGE thank you to Okieridge for meeting me after work with those beautiful eggs for my broodie BA hen. I got home marked them and took them out with me to feed and gather. There she was sitting on the unfertilized eggs...I got her up she went to eat and drink and take a quick dust bath...while I played a quick switcharoo. She looked under there saw that I didn't take her eggs this time and the look on her face was priceless! I don't think I have ever seen a happier hen! She ran cooing and chortleing the whole way back to those eggs....then she went to talking to them while she settled in. It was absolutely awesome. I will move her and the eggs to a brooder once I am absolutely sure she has taken to them well enough to still sit should I change her environment. She was soooo happy! Thank you so much! We both appreciate it

Here is a pic of todays garden haul, the green beans aren't in the pic and the squash and cukes are just represented b/c there were to many to fit in the pic. a couple 5 gal buckets of cukes and a 5 gall bucket of squash.


the odd things in it are the red okra in the front, right behind them are white and purple eggplant, the red just to the rt of the eggplant are little caribean hot peppers, and the brownish orange to the far rt are poona cukes.

I have tomatoe envy. I picked 6 today. Have a semi truck load that are green, when they start turning it is going to get fun. Awesome looking stuff, you seem to have gardening down to an art.

I don't post much for various reasons. First being the rudeness of folks to others. How immature! I do read most of the posts and see trends in folks coming and going over time. I'm one of the going ones. I suppose not many will give a rats patoot and I'm OK with that. Just keep in mind that in order to maintain a rapport with fellow poultry folks - or just keep the peace and maintain a good rapport with folks in general - that kindness goes a lot farther than bad attitudes.

Killed a 6 foot rat snake today. He ate one of the young rollers Okie doo gave me. But he wont eat another. Killed a large bull snake about a month ago. So far I am very pleased no more of a snake problem than I have. It could be much worse as much wood piles and stuff as I have here on the place. Mom doesnt want me to burn them as she said Dad piled them for rabbits to hide under. It must have worked, we got lots of rabbits. I took care of several cats when I first moved here. Once they were relocated, the rabbits have done well. Wish the snakes would just eat rabbit.

Deanne, I will miss you greatly! The meanness and snide remarks get to me also. Some days I want to just shout, "Enough already!" I'm so very disappointed at the immaturity of completely grown adults. They're potty trained and everything (in most cases) yet they still act like 3rd grade bullies on the playground. Is this just an Oklahoma chicken thing? I've never been in a hobby where there was such rudeness and disrespect for others feelings. This hurts people's feelings when others are rude. The answer isn't to "grow a thicker skin and learn how to take it". The answer is to be NICE to each other.
