***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have questions. Is tylan 50 really the same as 200? That's what the guy at TSC just told my husband I just want to ask people I trust to double check :) Second who knows the dosing for turkeys?

I learned a valuable lesson about myself this week, I gave my two pigs shots to worm them and they weren't really in the mood for such foolishness,
I grabbed my boar that weighs around 250 by his back feet and after about 3 minutes he was able to yank me off my feet he ran to one side of the pen and I used the fence where I fell to get my legs back under me,
I thought about where I work and decided that should I ever get into a fight there I have less than two minutes to win or will be taking a severe a** whoopin' (or worse)
The one consolation I did have while I was trying to get my wind back was that while I was sucking air I glanced up and saw the hog was also heaving for breath,
Not that it matters really since he won the battle,
The war however was mine to win with the help of a neighbor and a fence panel LOL

It reminded me of one of my favorite quotes
"Old age and treachery will always overcome youthful exuberance!"

Hope everyone has a great weekend...

Ouch! Hope you are okay and at least you came out victorious in the end!

had a surprise this afternoon, miss broody duck was carrying on- distress call.... so i climb under the porch to see what is going on- note to self: bring camera and utensils in same situation... so there i am on my hands and knees, miss ducky is looking at me yelling, whats wrong says i, then i see

what is wrong....ummmm...a snake about a foot away with egg halfway down.... she is down to 4 unfertile eggs.... hope mr snake gets a belly ache from spoiled egg..... we've only had a mr duck a week, so doubt those were fertile...glad snakes don't scare me...a little unnerving to be nose to nose though

Nose to nose w/ a snake definately calls for a camera!!!!! I've got some awesome shots nose to nose, but to be fair some have had a piece of glass between our noses!!!! lol lol

This coming Wed. I go into VA hospital to have second tumor taken out of head. Told me it would be 3 to 4 hour surgery bar no problems. Then told me I would be going home same day. They sure dont hold a guy long after they cut on him any more.

Thoughts and prayers are already headed your way for successful surgery and speedy recovery, Guy!
I second what Miss Betsy said! Thinking of ya Bud.

i had a good and bad day when i got home from work, first my wife surprised me with a new little black frizzle

But then....... i found out one of my buff hens got out and got killed, then i went to take care of my babies in my brooder room. and found 2 of the only 5 baby Ryun ducks dead and one more in a big snakes belly.

I'm soooo mad! i only have 2 left now. and what sucks, is i have 20 peaking babies the same age outside but i left my Ryun's in the brooder so they would be safer. out of everything in that room, that snake got the one i wanted most. there is probably 200 babies in there.

reading on it, you could kill your birds if you don't compensate for the consentration

Concentration. 200 is more concentrated. I believe on the package it says for swine and cattle. Where as (and I maybe wrong) 50 says for swine, cattle and poultry.

DH read up on it and came to the same conclusion, so we have to give them 1/4 of the dosage it would be for the 50. Still not sure how much to give tho...

Laura, it's 4 times stronger. The dose for a Cochin sized chicken (rounded up to 10 lbs) is 1/2 cc of the Tylan 50. So that same 10 lb bird would only get 1/8 cc of the Tylan 200. How old is the turkey? If he's around 4-5 months he's probably 12-15 lbs? Not sure. A 20 lb bird would get 1/4 cc of the Tylan 200. Turkey or chicken, the dose is the same. If you gave the turkey 1/4 cc of the Tylan 200 it's not going to hurt him even if he wasn't 20 lbs. But I'd try to get a little less than that cuz he's probably not 20 lbs.

5Acre Farm, I'm so sorry about your ducks. Um, Robin? Nose to nose with a snake would call for a change of underwear. Just saying....
