Had a full day today, started with a phone call from a panicy new mommy at 4:15 and couldn't go back to sleep. So my babies got some extra time in their yards this morning I went out at first light. Got everyone fed and watered, and watched them flit and fly around their yards, the younger chicks crack me up acting all tough with each other, lol. Went to the warehouse and picked up more stock for the stand and then spent the afternoon with my hubby. We talk each night on the phone but it isn't the same as being with him each evening. Then came home to let the birds enjoy some more play time. Found 2 of my 2 month old guineas dead. Not sure what happened they were in their little coop with all the others. No one acts sick and they get fresh food and water two times a day. I am going to keep a close watch on that pen for the next while.

Hubby is going tomorrow to pick up more materials for pens for the birds. I can't wait we are working on getting all the materials here before fireworks is over so we can get them done that following week. Of course the 6 and 7th we won't do a whole lot of anything other than soak up the A/C lol.

Cowboy, hope your surgery goes smoothly. My sister works at the VA up near Tulsa.

Well off to bed, I need to be at the stand at 7AM so gonna have to get a very early start here tomorrow : )

Sorry about your smart phone. I am well, just very tired I'm closing in on 40 hrs up w/ just two 1.5 hr naps. Maybe it's more then 40 by now I've been up since Thurs at 0530 however many hrs that is. All the chickies I got from you are growing and thriving. I introduced them to squash bug nymphs today and they ate them I'm hoping that means they will hunt for them on their own now. (they had their dubias and cucumbers today too)

Everyone (mostly) that I work w/ live and die (so to speak) by their smart phones. Mine is a very stupid phone, just makes and recieves calls and most of the time I don't even have it w/ me. I'm not about technology at all and really not about being "connected" 24/7 I like my "me" time and really like voicemail and the answering machine!!!!

Hi! This is my first post on BYC! I was wandering if anyone is looking for some RIR Roosters? If so, Ive got some! Just let me know!

I learned a valuable lesson about myself this week, I gave my two pigs shots to worm them and they weren't really in the mood for such foolishness,
I grabbed my boar that weighs around 250 by his back feet and after about 3 minutes he was able to yank me off my feet he ran to one side of the pen and I used the fence where I fell to get my legs back under me,
I thought about where I work and decided that should I ever get into a fight there I have less than two minutes to win or will be taking a severe a** whoopin' (or worse)
The one consolation I did have while I was trying to get my wind back was that while I was sucking air I glanced up and saw the hog was also heaving for breath,
Not that it matters really since he won the battle,
The war however was mine to win with the help of a neighbor and a fence panel LOL

It reminded me of one of my favorite quotes
"Old age and treachery will always overcome youthful exuberance!"

Hope everyone has a great weekend...
Like your story and your quote! Glad you weren't injured! A 250 pound animal can do a lot of damage trying to get away.

This coming Wed. I go into VA hospital to have second tumor taken out of head. Told me it would be 3 to 4 hour surgery bar no problems. Then told me I would be going home same day. They sure dont hold a guy long after they cut on him any more.
Cowboy, You will be in thoughts and prayers for a quick and speedy recovery. It's amazing how quickly surgeries can be done now a days...and patients sent home so quickly.

i had a good and bad day when i got home from work, first my wife surprised me with a new little black frizzle

But then....... i found out one of my buff hens got out and got killed, then i went to take care of my babies in my brooder room. and found 2 of the only 5 baby Ryun ducks dead and one more in a big snakes belly.

I'm soooo mad! i only have 2 left now. and what sucks, is i have 20 peaking babies the same age outside but i left my Ryun's in the brooder so they would be safer. out of everything in that room, that snake got the one i wanted most. there is probably 200 babies in there.
Sorry about your losses..Those snakes are looking for easy prey.

Elwood your quote is similar to a quote for my favorite movie "Fried Green Tomatoes"

When the one woman rams her car into the young smart*** car and she says "I'm older and have more insurance" that was in response to their remark of being "younger and faster"

Kass and Robin,I don't want no camera near me if I come nose to nose with a snake! Sure as heck someone would snap a pic of my wet pants!lol.

Feel for you Joe. Thats the way I am when the puter crashes! I haven't learned enough to get a smart phone yet!lol

Took the wife out for dinner tonight,it was our 21 anniversary! All those years and she still doesn't understand chicken talk!

Whoo hoo sale day tomorrow!
