***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I lost one of my babies today, little fuzzy butt, the splash chickie doo. Have no idea what happened he was all playing and being a little chickie doo w/ the rest yesterday, fine when they got put to bed, but this morning was pretty lethargic and died about mid morning.

at least his short life was spent in the garden looking for bugs w/ his other chickie doo buds.
Aaaw, I'm sorry, that's terrible.

kass, it almost sounds like he got bit by something, i am so sorry!!

i have heard of folks spraying their birds legs with wd40.... but i am with mitzi on the ivomec- used car oil seems just extreme- have also heard of smearing them with crisco shortning
OH THE IRONY!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Kass, your irony remark made me remember this silly poster. On a more serious note, I'm sorry to hear about your chickie doo. I think the heat is stressing birds more this year than last. The clutch in the incubator is doing well. I will stop turning the eggs on Saturday, so early next week I will let you know how many babies hatched.

Quote: So sorry. Lost two here. One a 6 week old chick and the other was Susie, one of my 3 year old Delawares. She went to sleep in a nest box.

We had a long day. Chores this morning followed by physicals at the doctor's office. Then home for checking cows. Housed the birds for the night and started to prep dinner when BIL called saying there was a cow having a calf and she was out in the pond.
Loaded up calf puller, ropes and the trailer and headed to Choctaw. We had to pull the calf which had already died Gave the cow penicillin shots and got her up. She was really wobbly. Got her away from the pond bank and left her with the calf so she would realize it was dead. The heat and all the fireworks shrieking and exploding across the street really did a number on this cow having her first calf. She will pull thru. Then home for finishing dinner preps. Cleaned the kitchen and am now sacking out in the den.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July. We're staying home but will be able to see fireworks from Tulsa and Muskogee. We won't be able to see all the Pops and Sizzles, but it's still a lot of fun to take a blanket out to the trampoline and watch the light show.

Good morning everyone. Hope all have a safe and happy Fourth of July. Remember those who hepled make it possible for us!
Have a broody Icelandic hen hatching this morning! Glad to see them ,maybe I can rebuild my flock after the fox attack!
Its hot and dry here. So agravatived at the local mayor and council,t,we are under a county wide fireworks ban but the local gov, decided to allow the in the city limits! Mainly because two council members have fireworks stands! The fire danger is just as bad in town as out and the town is surrounded by dry crop fields! Guess it will take looseing a home or life before they wake up. Okay I'll get off my soap box. Just think before shooting off fireworks if your in a tender box area. NaNa sorry about your calf.Hope the cow recovers.

Got my Sunrise Special order from Ideal. Lost several but really like the survivors. Lots of polish which I was hopeing for. Still no chicks from Sandhill. Really disappointed in them.
