Locked down 5 eggs on the 7th, I now have 2 Americauna Chicks!

My first successful hatch. I had to help one out, the other hatch by it's self. They're both doing good now. Not really fluffing up tho. they're kinda sticky.

morning guys- what are the chances of mareks in my silkie chicks? i have 3 1-month olds, 1 can't walk, one is twitching and losing ability to walk- i was thinking nutrition but now i am not sure - brainstorming time...

Although given the fact their feed wasn't medicated coccidia is a strong possibility...... Sulmet is stronger and kills more strains of coccidia than Corid so I'd certainly run to the feed store and get a bottle of Sulmet and get them started ASAP. Coccidia can and does cause extreme weakness like you're seeing.

I dont think its raw, if it is, it must be barely. Its a tad bit pink, but theres no open flesh of that sort. and where/ what is "newskin". Thanks again for the advice!

We have been six hours without electricity and have trees down and limbs and debris everywhere after a violent storm this evening at about 4:50 pm. The aftermath is loss of two good shade trees, three cochins and one car and it only took about 10 minutes to accomplish all this damage! I have my work cut out for me tomorrow with the chain saw and stacking as well as repairing pens that were damaged and gathering up all the tin that blew off of the tops of pens. The good news is that we got some much needed rain and the house was not damaged nor were we.

So sorry to hear about the storm damages! Was it a tornado?
Loosing big shade trees is a horrible hit to the poultry yard! Even if the trees turn into firewood.
A car and pen! wow! Hope the loss of electricity doesn't cause more issues. Thank the Lord there were no losses to family and home.

sounds like the humidaty was a littel to high during incubation and they asorbed to much musture this is why they are "sticky" and also more then likly why you had to help one out
