Can anyone tell me what time Mary's swap meet starts in the morning? I'm not interested in getting anything else for awhile but thought I might take my daughter over and just look around.
just wanted to say a good saturday morning to all! sorry i have not posted in afew days been a bit crazy here. joe i ended up with 6 brahma chicks so half is pretty good for my first hatch.plus the one lil de anver. been processing lots of foods in the dehydrator and canning this month. Which from the looks of things will pay off this winter. got a feeling the are gonna be pretty high priced. Had my coffee and tended flock this morning all is happy and loved the sunflower heads i gave them from my garden. think im gonna plant some more out befor fall. hope yall all have a great day.
Looks like this is going to be a long day. DH is out of town for a retreat, but the neighbor's cows are in-front-pasture for A Treat. Some time after I put the goats away last night the cows decided our grass and what they didn't destroy in my garden the last time were too much to resist. I am going to wait until it's light to move them back to their own space (and then mend the fence). Herding with a flashlight makes me look like a frantic marshaller on a doomed airstrip. I don't want our other neighbor to see the light and think I'm being attacked by coyotes.
This means STOP YOU SILLY COWS! HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!!! This means BACK AWAY FROM WHAT'S LEFT OF MY TOMATO PLANTS AND WALK IN AN ORDERLY FASHION BACK TO YOUR OWN PASTURE.
This is the response I will get. It means ANYTHING YOU SAY, SWEETIE. JUST GIVE US A FEW MORE MINUTES TO FINISH THE CARROTS AND WE'LL BE ON OUR WAY.
Good morning all! My BIL is coming to get Chiquita (his Dog) today, I have to say I will miss her some, she is such a sweetheart, she and I hobble about the same speed when I take her out to potty and I do love PitBulls and Dobermans, But we have two house dogs already, so i guess I will have to let her go!!! I know it is a little warm for shipping eggs but on one of the egg auction sites there are some really good pics I thought you all that like Cochins (Bantaum) and Buff Orpingtons (Bantum) would enjoy, so here is a direct link to it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/330991/crazy-24hr-auction/7920#post_9325368 We did get a really hard shower about 2am, it was short but we will take anything we can get right now! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!! Lynn
Mary's swap meet is at NE 23rd and Midwest Blvd. You can walk around and find all kinds of stuff for sale. A few BYCers sell chickens out there. Micheal Daughtery is usually out there and he can tell all about chickens and poultry.
It opens early and ends about 1- pm I think. it on Sat and Sunday.

That sweet looking round Pit Bull is named Chiquita? lol! That's almost as funny as P&B's post
I worked for a vet for a long time and it always amazed me how people were afraid of Pit Bulls. (The same people walking in with Lhasas that we had to peel off our legs because they'd sunk their teeth into us). Yet never once did a Pit Bull ever look cross-ways at us. The gentlest most patient dog we ever had in there had been hit by a car. He had a twisted leg and was all tore up. We had to manipulate him all different ways to get x-rays and check him over and that sweet boy just watched us with the softest eyes and the only time he moved was to lick my hand. He was an un-neutered backyard bred Pit Bull that belonged to an older guy. What an honor to know a dog like that. (And yes, he recovered fine).
I know they can be great dogs. I have a friend with one and Able is the sweetest thing ever. However my son has been bitten twice by a pit bull on 2 different occasions
. He gets to live the rest of his life with a scarred up face, so I am unfortunately one of the ones that dislikes them. Like I said tho, there are the good ones out there, but i believe those to be the exception.
Where is the sale this weekend?
I have far too many Blue Rosecombs and some extra cockrells and young pairs that really need to find some new homes, need to thin a bit and make more room.
