***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My aunt is visiting from CT, she mostly came to see her sister (my mother) in the nursing home. They had not seen each other since the stroke, Annette was here right after the stroke, but my mother wouldn't remember that she was too sick to remember. Anyway I didn't want her trip to be all NH and no fun so we went to the aquarium today, it was cool, a bit pricey, but that shark tube was uber cool!!!!!

Is that the one in Jenks? That is a pretty neat place ... but a little pricey, yes. Did you feed the rays? My kids love to do that.

Has anyone had trouble submitting photos on private messages?
Keeps telling me the photos didn't load.....
I'll try here:
Color comaprison Buff Columbian OEGB and Buff Columbian with Blue feathering

May be a pullet and a cockerel

The birds with the blue feathers are much younger than the BC pullet but are definitely a different color.

Know what I love? Getting home from work first to get the new homesteading magazines before anyone else sees them! I can read them in peace that way without someone leaning over my shoulder every few minutes to see if I'm finished yet. Ha! Of course I haven't done a thing outside today at all. The kids took care of the critters this morning and cleaned the duck pond. I just have to get all my fall seeds organized now so they can get in the ground. I was hoping this weekend it would all come together, however, our son goes off to college on Sunday and I am totally unprepared for that. I feel like I'm losing my right arm or something ...

Well we just bought a new tractor 2012 kioti 45hp to clean up this burnt mess here. It should be delivered here tomorrow. Our old tractor sold 1984 28hp kubota. They should be here tomorrow to pick it up. Insurance called got our claim started for our fence and pig pen coverage. I will be so glad when things settle back down here.

Had 2 Swedish Flower hens hatch today. 2 more pipped, 5 in the bator rock'n. Woohoo, now little Bear will have some friends. Will post pics later, We have to go to Colsen's school for open house!

Congratulations on both!

I have a silkie that is laying her eggs in the back corner under the coop. Any ideas how to make her stop? I laid a few boards down in the corner and now she lays them right in front of the boards. I'd block the underneath offcompletely but that's where all my girls go for shade, there is other shade but I hate to cut it in half because of one stubborn bird. We have a nice nesting box and our other silkie learned pretty quickly how to use it and quit laying eggs on the ground. Her eggs are very difficult to get to because you have to crawl on your hands and knees through the poo and what not, and my kids are starting to protest and I don't blame them!

Yes, the one in Jenks. We didn't feed them, the children were having lots of fun doing that and I was having more fun taking the pics.

Cochins are awesome like that, they'll always be my favorite. The Bantams seem a lot bossier and not as easy to integrate but my LF Cochin girls have always been perfect ladies.
Lucky looks great! I can't wait to get my 1st group caponized. I put it off until it got under 100 degrees. It's still showing 102 for today and 106 for tomorrow and 106 for Sunday. I'm so sick of this weather. I used to love it until I had the birds to worry about.
Did you know caponized boys grow super long sickle, hackle and tail feathers? Cool, huh? Does he act any different yet? Did he quit crowing? Did his comb shrink?

Thanks. I went out today and she seems to be over it. I found the eggs down by our big barn, she was sitting on 17 apparently, they had been cracked and sucked totally dry. Any idea what critter would do that? They weren't crushed, just a quarter size hole poked in each of them.
