***OKIES in the BYC III ***

All,

Speaking of feed, if you have yours mixed at a mill and they don't have everything you need to give a balanced diet of vitamins, minerals, amino acids etc. I found a place in Oklahoma that sells Fertrell Nutri-balancer. It comes in both regular and organic form. It is Dominica Farm, 15950 E. 2nd St., Arcadia, OK. phone 405-694-8630. You mix one 60 pound bag per ton. For those with driving distance to Carnegie or Mountain View, those mills will mix it in for you. They will even hold several bags of it for you and each time you order you can get it mixed in. The place belongs to Christopher and Robin. (They have a wood on their farm, but I don't know if it is a hundred acres or not.) If you call, tell them Jim in Geronimo sent you. They can also get other Fertrell additives, including fish meal by the bag. They don't have any of it sitting around, as they are more a working farm than a store, but when the requests are sufficient to merit an order, they'll put it in and call you when it comes in.

Christina, this is the stuff Grady used in his feeds. As does Joel Salatin.

For folks in the general Lawton area, if you are interested I can pick some up for you next time I make the trip. It will be a while because I just bought about 400 pounds or so, but will give you a heads up next trip I make.

I don't really know, exactly, because I've heard various explanations (generally Pass On), but it means no sale. I want it back. They go through the auction process, to the final winning bidder, and the seller just says PO, it is marked that way and the seller takes it home. Sometimes, the auctioneer will ask the seller how much it will take, then offer that to the highest bidder, then anyone else willing to buy at the price. But not always.

And sometimes I've seen sellers so insulted by the price that they actually seemed POed, so maybe that is what it means. :)
All I could think of was PO'd or pull out, but neither seemed appropriate.

just let me know how manny you think he would like and i will pick he out some realy nice ones

Geepers, 2100 birds??? And I thought it was a mess dealing with the 28 I have some days. I can't imagine 2100.

Here's what we got done today. Yes, those are feeds sacks we used for mulch under the bed. You can see my almost non-existent okra sitting there in the background. It was planted in June and has just set there doing nothing. So frustrating. We have one more of these beds to build this week then we can get the fall garden in. This was taken before we finished filling it.

Otherwise, not doing so well with my son gone. I miss him so much and worry about him. Until the last year or two we weren't even sure he would ever go to college. Even though he's really smart he's also autistic and has some real problems socializing with people and functioning well in large groups. It takes him a long time to adjust to new settings. We're always thrilled when he's able to function well in a new place but we worry like all get out until we know he's okay. It's hard now that he's over 18 because we don't want to smother him but we've seen how much struggle he's had in life dealing with the world and just can't help it. I don't think I slept much at all last night.

Joe sent you a PM.

Buster thanks for the info on the feed. We are feeding layer pellets and fermented grains right now using reclaimed oats as our grain. But thinking about fermenting some 4 way feed and that nutrabalancer sounds like something we should consider.

Carl THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for dubbing Nathanael's little roos. They are settled in their coops and doing fine. I will say I worried about doing it before hand but seeing how they acted as if it was no big deal made me feel better about it. He can't wait to get out there tomorrow to play with his new little pullet. You do know Nathanael is going to start thinking you are Santa Clause lol.

Well off to bed it is an hour past my bedtime.
