If you are ordering from a hatchery no matter what they call them Ameracauna, Araucana or EE they are all EE. Anytime you get EE you have the possibility of getting green, blue, or brown layers. I ordered mine from Meyers and they were called Ameracaunas but were EE and they all layed a form of blue or green, I have heard of other hatcheries EE laying a lot of brown though.

Ams will lay blue eggs and are a solid color, you will only be able to get them through breeders and be careful if you really want ams a lot of people think they have ams when they actually have EE.

Araucanas will lay blue or green most are either tufted (different then muffs of EE and ams) and/or rumpless They can have one or both or none the ones w/ none for me are hard to tell they are araucana and would likely be thought of as EE just so you know.

There are threads for all three kinds on BYC, but be careful of the Ameracauna thread they are rather uptight and mean,(so if you go on that thread be sure and wear your "big girl panties", you'll need them) imho.

Hey Emach! Ideal Poultry is the best place to order Easter Eggers (I think). https://secuservices.com/ideal/newideal/selectproduct.aspx?qty=1&ID=AMERP&Product=1189
That's the link for pullets (girls). You don't have to order 15 or 25 like most places, you just need a $25 minimum which usually amounts to 8 or 9 chicks, then they charge a $7 '1/2 box' charge so the total comes to around $35 shipping and all. Of course you can order more than that if you want, too, but you don't have to.
They call them Ameraucanas but they're not. They're not Auraucanas either but most hatcheries don't know the difference. Heck, most chicken people don't know the difference so we can't really blame the hatcheries for not knowing:)

I bought mine from Ideal as posted above and they are nice hens. Mine have not started laying yet so not sure on egg color. I Plan on making my own EE in the spring as well as Olive eggers. I have a BCM roo and Ameraucana hens to make them and they will be blue in color since i am crossing a blue maran with blue ameraucana. I Also have the Black copper but i am going to use him to make the olive eggers when bred to my firs generation EE so i will be able to tell which is which lol

I got a duck egg!!!!

Guess I have to buy an incubator now ...

How are you all keeping your birds cool. I had a near miss with my roo yesterday. I have given them electrolyte water. Put a sprinkler out but everyone was afraid of it so I turned it off. I need to see if they are in the mud.
