***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It seems that you have 5 acres that the codes would have some variances than a city lot. Do you live in a addition or rural area.
There sure are a lot peeps out there that are breaking the law on the outer edges of the OKC city limits if that is the law.
Yep, they're breaking the law. I think it's just enforced on a complaint basis though. Our place is unplatted, so no subdivision rules, just the city code. Problem is all the places around us are worth scary high amounts of money. We live in an underground house in an area full of mcmansions.

When they outlaw chickens only criminals will have chickens.... or maybe that's guns. Well they did they same thing in Enid, made them illegal. But I see them in yards all the time.

Kimbroe, dogs sure will het the chickens but they usually kill them and and leave the bodies it seems. Cats or racoons will sneak in and snatch them and carry them off.
I want to tell you how sorry I am. i've lost several recently. Take forever to go around at night and lock up everyone.

You were talking about fences not chickens suppose I should read all the posts next time lol.

Sometimes it's hard to keep up with the conversation. Lol.

Got our meaties today. Trying fermented feed with them. Have no idea if I'm doing it right or not even after reading all the threads I can find about it but I'm moving ahead with it. So far so good ... of course it's only been 13 hours or so. We haven't lost any yet and the cats haven't eaten any so I guess we're good so far.

Biggest frustration of all ... we have been drooling over a piece of land (26 acres, fully fenced, two barns, electric and water, on a paved road, only 1/2 hour from my parents) but the price has been out of our reach. We just found out that the price was reduced by half the end of August. Now we're scared someone's going to snatch it up before we can get financing which can't happen before January.

Deep breath. I guess if it's meant to be, it will happen and if not, we'll find a different piece of land. Just like when we adopted our daughter ... we were asked if we wanted to adopt her three times and they chose other families ahead of us three times, the fourth time we almost didn't put our name in the hat but finally said if it's meant to be, it will be and put in our name again, and here we are five years later with our beautiful funny lovable daughter and can't imagine life without her.
