***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Kass, I love that picture :)
Tony, where did you find 7.5' fence??
I'm sitting waiting for my appt at OSU with my chicken. Wouldnt have thought 2 yrs ago I'd have ever posted something like that. They're going to see if they can readjust his splint so he can walk or stand. I've seen other chickens get around just fine on 1 leg, I don't think they realize how bulky and uncoodinated Cochin teenagers are. They have a hard time walking with 2 legs sometimes.
I've got 5 BBR Phoenix eggs due to hatch today/tomorrow, 2 have been pipped since last night. I like small hatches much better. I just love the Phoenix personality. I'm excited about these babies hatching.

My brother posted this pic on FB for me, it was to cute not to repost. Wish the preditors in my area felt this way about chicken.

D'awwwww! :)

1 of the baby Phoenix's was out when I got back from Stillwater! He's adorable! How can I still be excited after hatching eggs since spring?? Here's his daddy, isn't he pretty? I love their long tails. This picture was from her auction ad so it's not real big. 1 out and 4 to go! I'd like to put in my request for 1 male and 4 females, please. Thank you.

Oh my, he is GORGEOUS!! Do you have a close up picture of him? I'd love permission to use him in my "Cock o' the Month Club" photo album.

Glad you think so-in case I get all 5 boys I'll hit you up to see if you want one

Just kidding!
Here's the 1st 2 just now. I swore I wouldn't post any more blurry 1/2 wet baby chick pictures but I can't help it! 2 more are pipped and working at it. I'll be way impressed yet again with my Brinsea if all 5 hatch. They're sure strong active little buggers. It's always a good sign when they're trying to eat pieces of their broken eggshell before they're even all the way out of it lol

Is anyone else experiencing a severe decline in egg production from their chickens? I can't recall when I have had so few eggs from the hens in both coop areas. I switched to Purina All Flock raiser last week in the hope the higher protein level would increase egg production and got a few more eggs yesterday and today, but 5 eggs is only a few more than the one per day I got for about 10 days and a whole lot less than the 2-3 dozen I was getting in June.
I figured it was just me. I have 8 layers and I've been getting one or maybe two eggs a day for the past week. I'm sure open to any suggestions to increase that egg count.

our egg count was off as well but we realized the sun was setting a lot earlier so we turned on their light about a week and a half ago. Egg count is back up now.
