***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Woke the girls early for the meter shower. You can imagine how happy they were to go out & watch the sky in 30 mph winds.
Dh is talking about spring hatching. He wants to cross the langshan hens with a NN roo, since the NN is our biggest roo. May cross them with a Blue NN roo that came from cowboy. I also want to hatch some more rose comb RIR & of course some ducks & guineas. May have to get a runner drake to go with my 2 black runners. We haven't hatch anything since July, think he is even starting to have withdrawals.

Christina we have been hatching the last few weeks and I don't know if it is the time of year or what. But all the chicks seem less active than the spring chicks. The guineas hatched like wildfire but the chicks just aren't hatching well. I don't know if that is normal for fall or what. I am sure some of it has to do with the fact that the birds had a stressfull summer with the heat and then molting. I may try again in Jan/Feb hatching some more but I don't think I will do anymore late fall hatching again.

Mitzi sorry I couldn't meet up yesterday I was going to Piedmont so not headed towards I-40 yesterday morning. Of course got to Piedmont only to find the games were in Elreno, I was ready to take out a coach by the end of that trip. But I am meeting up with her Monday morning in Shawnee to get her one of my cuckoo roos. I know he will be happier there than here in a all boys pen for the winter, lol.

Well back to Elreno for more games today at 2, if anyone is bored and has nothing better to do come watch the games they are at the Jenks something or other gym next to the round up club grounds. Shoot yesterday they had tractor pulls going on it the parking lot!!! That is my little guys idea of a good day, haha. We watched tractor pulls between games. I told them every good basketball game should start with tractor pulls, lol.

My cream Brabanters are laying well (finally). I'm tempted to set a clutch. I'm researching backup generators. I don't want to have eggs in the incubator if we have a power outage due to inclement weather. It's odd to say that, with the beautiful weather we had today, but I remember snow in November a few years back. I'd hate to lose a group of chicks if the power fails.

Oh good! You 2 got ahold of each other :) I'm so glad you can place one of your boys.

I got 6 Orpington girls from Bill yesterday, decided I needed a separate Orp yard :) They're the sweetest healthiest girls!! He sure grows em' good at his place. Bill, I do appreciate the fact that they're so healthy and were born and raised in one spot at your place. I'm so paranoid about bringing in sicknesses and these girls are just as healthy and strong as can be-thank you!!

Ok peeps I am going to give away my LF red brown cochin roo. He is aggressive at times, I had been working him some so he has calmed down a little. PM and I for my contact number and I will send yo a pic. If nobody wants him I am taking him to the auction soon.

Well ballgames got moved to 4 but that just ment that we were home to see two new hatchlings. I put some silkie eggs under Jack's Bantam Buff Brahma she has been wanting to go broody all summer so I finally let her. We gave her 5 eggs and so far 2 of her own eggs have hatched, I am hoping the silkie hatches as well because Kurt lost one of his silkie chicks that we hatched here in the house. That momma is a force to be reconded with. We thought she was fierce when she was just setting eggs man you should see her now that those babies are up and about! LOL She is normally so laid back and lets Jack just carry her around like a kitten but not right now she won't. I told Jack to take a chick feeder and waterer out to her coop and he said "I better watch her she bites HARD!" lol Guess it is never to early for him to learn not to get between a momma and her babies.

Hey Everybody!
Yes I am still alive. Michael D. said a few people were asking about me, so here I am. Oh and by the way Mike thank you so much, he is pretty wonderful.
This school year has been crazy and of course I just keep adding to it by taking on more then I can possibly get done.
Had a dog attack a couple of weekends ago that wiped out 3/4 of my flock. The dog is no more and the owners I will be seeing in court soon.
Hope everyone is doing well. Miss you all a bunch and will do better getting on line.
Well it is a beautiful day and want to enjoy all the nice we get until winter comes and I am stuck inside.
Have a great day everyone!

You have had the worst luck with predators!!! Hope court turns out good. Is it small claims court? If so the judge in Comanche county calls everyones names, ask them to talk it out & come to terms & then come to the bench. If you can't come to terms he makes the choice. We never come to terms with our rental tenants because they think it isn't fair they don't deserve to be evicted. Sometimes the judge is half crazy, other times he is reasonable. Never seem to know which way it will go.
