***OKIES in the BYC III ***

A couple of weeks ago there was a discussion on this thread about Antibiotics that work well on stubborn cough/rattles but I can't remember what the name of the meds that were recommended. I have two birds that can't seem to get rid of their "colds". I tried Tylan 50 but they still rattle sometimes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

denagard is what i recommend, need to add a cup of sugar to the water(per gallon of water) with the med, to mask the bitterness, but it will knock it out- i ordered it through QCsupply.com they are very fast on shipping, might be someone close that has some to get it into them faster

Good Morning! :)

It`s a muggy 74°F here this morning....the weather guessers are calling for scattered thunderstorms, we could use the rain for sure! Nothing on my schedule for today besides feeding and watering the birds so I guess I will just kick back and relax! I hope y`all have a good `n!

Someone posted this card on the Heritage breed thread and wanted to know what they were. The answer is Malinois Kalkoenkop or Belgian Cuckoo Malines or Meschels. I was intrigued and found that there are two possible sources here on BYC...a lady in the UK and a possible breeder in California. I've emailed the person in California to see if she still breeds them.....
Feathersite.com has actual photos of the birds....

Purdy boy :))

MJ, you might be thinking of the stuff Christina posted about. I can't remember the name of it but it was Erythromycin under another name. She uses it in place of Tylan 50. I've tried Denagard and it tastes so horrible the birds I tried it on wouldn't drink it even with sugar in it.

Oh gosh those Brabanters are awesome!!! Look at me I am getting Mitzi Syndrome....hubby will not build anymore pens so no more breeds for me until I rehome the Golden Salmon Marans and I won't be ready to do that until spring.

Mitzi your new babies are beautiful!!!!

Found a new home for one of my Cuckoo Marans boys, he will be a happy man with about 20 girls to call his own.

Looks like a busy day here at work today, I love those days they go by so much faster if we are busy. Hopefully next week we will be moving to our new office space. Praying for good weather this week so they can finish our new building. We are ready to move since our current office has no windows we are looking forward to being able to see outside during the day, haha.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Gallimycin is what we use. It has been amazing for us.

Everyone seen the weather forecast??? Friday is going to be brutuly cold. All ready planning what type of warm yummy soup we will be having. Finally got all the last corn harvest put up. Close to 70 quart size bags in the freezer. Was so windy we had to work in the house & it made a HUGE mess. But I know the goats & chickens will enjoy a few days worth of corn cob scraps.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.

Christina, Do you use injections or the powder? If you use the powder how long do you give it to them?

What do you mean "brutuly cold"?
