***OKIES in the BYC III ***

HAHAHAHA That's awesome!!

Mitzi - my orps from Bill are beautiful too. A friend came over and commented on the cockeral being so huge and asked me what he was.

Bill - you told me mine might be a mix of orp and something else. What was the something else? I think the boy and one of the girls are mix and they are pretty :)

Is anyone looking for a deep freeze to convert to a bator? I have a deep freeze on my back porch I want gone. It only worked for a year and then went fritzy after that. Lost me too much meat for me to trust it again. It needs a good cleaning (I was lack luster cleaning it the last time it went out), but other than that it's only three years old. I wouldn't trust it as a freezer plus it's been sitting outside exposed for nearly a year now. I think it has potential for conversion though for a handy person.

I would like to have it for feed storage. If it hasn't been spoken for already, that is. Also we would need to talk about how soon you need it gone. I would have to get help from some friends to transport since I messed up my knee and my hubby is still on activity restrictions after surgery.

There's a guy that's supposed to call me this morning about Frizzle and straight feather Cochin girls, I assume bantam. Not sure what he's got but am curious to find out. I think I've got enough girls for each of the boys I have plus a place for everything. Already planning the Brabanter yard and coop and the eggs aren't even laid yet

Oops-the whole point of that was to ask you if you were interested in any more frizzles if he's got some girls or boys?
Still deciding on whether to set them or not, I'm so dang scared I'll get a bunch of boys and it's so hard to find good homes for Cochin boys.

Oooh! I very well might be. I could handle a red cochin girl to go in with the Brig and his other ladies.

I am sending you a PM.

Hmm.... food storage..... I hadn't thought about that....... You may have given me an idea for repurposing it myself. I'll ask my husband if he wants to do that and if he says no then you are welcome to it. I just want it off my porch before thanksgiving.

Doooo it! It's great for storing chicken or hog feed. At least that's what I read. Nothing can get into it that way.

Are you talking about the freezer? I thought about one but not sure where I would put it, I'd like to make something better for the Hissers they are much better climbers than the Dubia's.
Quote: As I understand the BO's have Minorica in their lineage, the main difference in the ones I had and my BO's were they had a bit smaller frame and bigger earlobes, they are about as docile as the Orp's but I think the two I had were a lot more "In your face" they were very friendly while the Orp hens would come close these two would stand on your toes and look up like "Whatcha' got there?" LOL

Quote: I have several on fridges and freezers that are next to my shop I use them for storage cabinets for parts, paints, gas cans, caustics and chemicals, I put my welding rod in the top of one with a 5 watt florescent bulb and it puts off just enough heat to keep the rod dry the only problem is they have to be inside the shop or have a cover or they take in water when it rains, I had two chest type freezers I'd collected to use for feed but they would fill up completely after a while of getting rained on, I would like to find a way to use some for feed but I'm afraid of losing feed to moisture and it's too expensive for that, I don't have enough room inside my little shop for any more in fact I need to get the two in there out with the rest when I figure out a way to extend the eve of the shop over the row of them to keep things dry.

Yes I made a chest freezer into a dubia colony home it is in the garage, Gary wired it w/ a heat light and thermostat.

On vacation in Branson we were going to go to a show tonight, but one of the places we went today had some massive airfreshener gave me a major asthma attack so I'm back at the room trying to recover and no show tonight.

Kass there is nothing worse than going somewhere that has perfumes, air freshness & cleaning supplies that send me weezing!
Have fun in Branson. I enjoy all the local thrift stores as much as I enjoy fresh pork rinds from silver dollar city. Yummy!
I bought a few new goats today. We will pick them up this weekend, I wasnt up to loading & trying to unload them when I knew DH wouldn't be available. Also bought Bambi a nice new shinny collar & put her on the dogs runner chain when she jumped the fence. Boy was she grumpy!!! Think I will try that for a few days. Taron really doesn't want an electric fence. Told her it was the same as a shock collar but she doesn't believe me.

Oh, I'm sorry. Those are the worst!

Finished the pear butter yesterday...20 pints. We have been cleaning up under more pecan trees today. Filled a 3 gallon bucket with pecans while picking up big limbs so Roger could run the rake. Finished the hatcher and need to pick up a 15 watt , 25 and 40 watt bulbs to check out which works best.

Oh and my Minorcas are laying machines. Out of the five girls I get 3 to 4 extra large white eggs every day.
