Thank you!

Yes, the eggs that look like they are marked em are Gerald's markings of cm ... I know, it looks like an em! Anyway, those are the cuckoo marans, and if any of them are feather legged, they seem to be more valuable in the eyes of the marans breeders because they are considered "French Standard" which is what they are trying to get to be the American Standard. I hope you get lots of feather legged ones. If not, at least all carry the feather legged gene, because both my roosters and most of my hens are from the Kelly Cratty lines of cuckoo marans, which are supposed to be some of the best cuckoo marans in the country.

I wouldn't mess with it. If you could sex eggs before they are even incubated, don't you think the hatchery would do that instead of having hundreds (...thousands) of cockerels to deal with!

You know I was thinking along the same lines, until I read the feedback, people are saying that it works
idunno.gif
and the guy is offering a your money back if it doesn't

of course it also
said that the guy doesn't answer his emails

the up side is that if you pay Via Paypal
they will give it back if he doesn't

It sounds interesting ... maybe along the lines of how the fella I know uses his keys to sex his birds? Gerald's been using a nail on the end of a string and thinks it works too.

Please let us know when you get it and show us how it works! I am SO CURIOUS! I looked at that guy's feedback too, and WOW, people believe it works!

:cool:Cuban apparently that seller spent big bucks to import birds. There was a thread on those auctions in the breeders/hatchery section of the forums.

Carla what you got incubating right now?

Oh, only about a hundred or so eggs are due to hatch this weekend in that cabinet hatcher that Grace found us to buy ... spitzhauben, brabanter, silkie, and all 4 of our varieties of turkey eggs from our birds, some show quality mille fleur d'uccle eggs from a guy I traded a silkie rooster to, and hopefully 2 peacock eggs for someone (and I get to keep one peachick if it hatches) I don't know why I loaded the incubator up last time? Where am I going to put them all?

Also in the incubator from the past few weeks of buying on eBay or here on BYC or at the auctions: assorted colors of bantam rosecomb, several colors of bantam cochin, some oegb and I can't remember what else.

Lots of chicks will be for sale soon! We may even try to make it to that sale South of Stillwater on Saturday. We just have too much!

What kind of fuzzy babies did you buy?

Buff orpingtons, Americanas, and free RIR

Cool. All kinds of colors then. I love the yellow of buff chickies and then the cute beards on the Ameraucanas.

We bought some buff bantam cochin chicks at Blanchard and they are just too cute running around with all the other bantam chickies we bought. Eventually you and Carl will go for bantam chicks too ... when you decide to downsize like we did!

I've already been looking at some of the bantams. carl tried to tell me no cause they are big enough to eat. Whatever!, he doesnt know what I order of the internet. Ha Ha! He told me the only way I would get them is if I hatched to sell them. I asked him what else did he think I was going to do with them.

Noon All! Was gonna write morning but saw the time! We have been busy beavers around here. Got all the wire off the quail cages that I had converted to rat cages...now the poop will fall better! Bought wood to make new pens with...got some coated stuff for bathrooms to use as poop boards...will see how that goes...

thanks for the ideas on the ears...had already done the alcohol thing...swam way to much as a kid...mom always dosed with alcohol...lot of swimming in places I shouldn't have swam! The gators stayed away! Will try the other ideas when i get a competent pourer here
