Hennies in the Mist!

Well I am here!
Was wanting to go to the Lexington auction tonight since it is pretty close to home but we had to put in whole new water line.
hit.gif
Stupid people who first set this place used copper tubing for a water line from the well house which they buried in the ground. The stuff is now paper thin and breaking so we just ran PE from the well to the house.

The people who owned this place sure jerry rigged stuff. You would not believe what I had to do to fix parts of the floor where they had patched it with scraps of wood. What a mess!

Feel kinda bad about not getting all the copper out of the ground but that is a bunch of digging I am not ready to do. Oh well, we now have water and no more leaks. I am so lucky that both Uli and I are knowledgable about stuff like this because I sure could not have afforded to have a plumber come out here and do what we did for around $60 bucks.Of course cutting my propane line was not the most brillant thing I have ever done.

But hey they used the same size copper tubing for both water and propane and had them coming in about the same place under the trailer. Fortunely that is easily fixed with a dual connector flange. Ms. Fix-it that is me. Jill of all trades, mistress of none.

The cool part about all this is we also ran a water line out the back so I can install a water spiget for the coop and garden. Yeah!!! no more hauling water to the back part of the property!!!

Now I just need to run a power line to the coop and we are set.

And now to potentially burst the bubble.

The propane line has been in the ground just as long as the water line has and chances are is also getting thin in spots due to condensation in the line. Plus if you have clay soil as I do the movement of the dry/wet and hot/cold will make the connector fail, pulling it apart.

I made the same mistake years ago and was out in sub-zero temps with a pick digging through frozen ground to replace the line. I believe it was the winter of '82/'83 when there were record cold spells.

S/He is two months. It's not always like this, but I see it often enough to feel worried about it. What's causing it? Could you tell me?
I've read about hens and roos with tails bent to the side, but My EE's tail is pointing down vertically.

Am up and perking and have all the "laborious" things done for the day. Hens are good to go...fresh water, electrolytes, ACV, food, fan, misters, everything scraped and brushed down. I even gave them some peanuts. They LOVE peanuts! It's fun to watch them running around with them like they have found the keys to the kingdom. Then they bash them on the ground. Maybe they are getting out their aggressions? Maybe we should all smash a peaenut or two? Still haven't gotten that darned squash in....maybe this evening when it cools off some. i love the mornings out here. Cool and clouds floating everywhere. Then the sun comes up and scorches the crap out of everything. Ya gotta love it.

Donna have been thinking about you and praying for you. I know you are going through a really tough go round. We're here for ya. Hope you guys are holding up OK.... But what a gift that your mom knows the Lord and you WILL see her again someday.

Oh well good day to you Okes and stay outta the blazing sun.
