Been up since 3 with not feeling good. Was hoping it was the baby telling me she was ready. Still don't know, but feel like poo and am tired. Got my outside chores done. Extra water set up for everyone just in case. I am having trust issues that my husband will make sure they are all taken care of with plenty of water. Quail eggs aren't due until next week, so got a little time on them. So much to try to do and worry about.
Hope everyone survives the day and the rest of the week. It is supposed to be a hot one.

Good Morning all.

Lex auction not to many critters there, we did manage to pick up some bantam cochins and japs for a good price. Got a dozen BR 10 week olds for a buck 75 each. Not bad there. Steph and Carl, Lynn and I were out in the parking lot when this guy who looked like he was lost came pulling in It was Ke_Ben, we stayed and chatted till they kick us off the property.

Wished we could have visited longer but Lynn was tired and had to get up early this morning for work.

We gotta go back to Lex tomorrow and pick up this thing Lynn bought from Jim, He says her IS going to make this thing into an incubator. I only glanced at it but what I did see of it, I said Oh Al will jealous. When we get it here to the house I will get some pics of it. Says it has heating elements all thru it and light fixtures, it was something that came out of a Carls Jr's.

Got all the movable pens moved to the shade Monday. It was a red neck moment moving the bigger brooders. Took grandsons tonka dump truck and his lil tike wagon, moved like a charm. So when I go to garage sales I will be looking for kids toys on wheels.

Today is the last day on my hatch, what does not hatch out get disposed of tomorrow, said I was not gonna hatch any more BUT, I need to check fertility on the cochins. And Stephs incubators are all full and she wants me to set some eggs. Ok Ok I cant turn the silly thing off, but I do know I am NOT keeping any more chicks.

Henny..thank you for your prayers. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most painful cancers there is. Howeve, mom has NO pain. We know it's the power of prayer because the only thing we've requested for people to pray for is that mom not go through that pain.

God is so good. We surely thought she would pass yesterday. We've still got her. I got her to eat about a half cup of cream of wheat... first food in a week. I was shocked when she wanted it. I told the family yesterday that whoever is still learning something from this situation please hurry up and get it learned so mom can go home....LOL

Thanks all,

donna

Morning...have the boys doing chores and am thnking I should do something but don't wanna! Guess I loose.

Where is Carla? Haven't heard from her in awhile. Thought since I would be driving I might as well drive more and see about some more birds cuz I don't have near enough!

Gotta go take a stupid type test. Since I am going to be headed that way and trying for the city...anyone want quail eggs!

Buster - I know foks that would be happy for you to take some praire dogs...they will laugh if you are setting up a colony and I am certain folks would hurt you badly if you moved any in somewhere. There is a town down in TX that some well meaning folks thought it would be nice to put them in an area with roads all around it...no grass and dead bodies on the road. Those dudes are nasty!

Hi everyOkie!! The heat is nasty for sure. I get up earlier and earlier to try and mow while it's cool...haven't found the cool hour yet. My clucks seems to be doing okay in the heat. When I let them out of the run they come to the west part of the yard and hang out until the sun moves. By that time their run is in the shade and I lock them back up 'til evening.

HennyP - are you feeling better today? Take care of yourself girl...there is plenty of time to get the squash in. Wish I was closer to you - I'd help! I love to play in the dirt.

Donna - cherish these last days with your mother. Blessings on her and on your family.

Tina - cool that you got to meet Ke_ben!!

Gees, wish I coulda slept through that 8-day forecast this
morning..... and even looks like the wind is gonna stop
blowing ! Am thinking Pa-Pa just as well go ahead and drag
out the irrigation pump and string the hose down to the creek....

Some more of these cornish are hatching. They are adorable !
I sure hope the price of birds comes back up some when it cools
off this fall. Even with all the birds they've sold, there are still
about 300 out there that they've hatched this year...........
I counted up the other day....while Na-Na wasn't looking......
They've amassed 16 different colors of birds in 7 specific
breeds....................... And that doesn't count the laying birds.
There is something BAD wrong with this picture...............

SlightlyCracked - Are you guys still coming to Tahlequah the
middle of July for the ball tournament? Even if we have managed
to go to the lake, it would only be about 12 miles from the
ballpark.

Have a good one !

Cityclucks, I'll try and not be too much of a tempter but I thought I would ask just one more time if you want the trio of Speckled Sussex? If not, I am gonna incorporate them into my long range plans (which I don't need to do ). They are sure hard to find so I figure as long as I have them I should try and raise some.
For you though, I would make a sacrifice.

S/He is two months. It's not always like this, but I see it often enough to feel worried about it. What's causing it? Could you tell me?
I've read about hens and roos with tails bent to the side, but My EE's tail is pointing down vertically.

Usually it's something like worms, or cocci that causes that. Is she still eating, drinking, and pooping normal? Still active?

Teach, When are you gonna make this sojourn from the wilderness into the land of plenty?
I need some bigger quail. I am not real confident about the eggs that are in the bator now. My incubator spiked to 104 yesterday and I doubt if any will make it. I'll know for sure next week.
