I actually live in town, but it's a small town. In fact, I can see my deer stand from my front porch. and there is a big stand of woods behind the house. I'm so tired of shooting varmints, but there seems to be an endless supply of them.

Good morning Okies
Nice cool morning, but looking to get warm again this afternoon.

Na-Na - had a great hatch on the cinnamon queen x EE eggs. The regular EE eggs didn't do very well, but I have plenty of chicks, so I am happy.

Processed some broiler chickens yesterday evening. It surprised me how easily they come out of their skin and feathers. I receive some each year from a teacher who hatches them in her kindergarten class and I have generally considered them stinky fat birds in the past, and given them away to older friends who don't mind butchering their own chickens. Now that I have actually processed some myself and observed how much easier they are to butcher than young roos or old hens, I may start looking for one of those broiler specials and get some more.

Stimp - that is incredible that you caught 4 raccoons in such a short time frame. Did you see the post that showed the strength of raccoons in a cage? I was astonished at how they can spread the wire on a trap. Made me realize how fortunate I have been that my only problems have been with possums and skunks.

Oklahoma Lightning - did you get your feed all put away to your satisfaction?

It sounds like your birds have a touch of CRD (Chronic Respitory Disease) I had a few that had it last month. I administered Tylon 50 1cc per bird for large fowl 1/2cc for smaller birds, once a day for 5-7 days, given intravinasly in the breast alternating injection site every day. I gave it to mine for 7 days and they were breathing and crowing well, with no other signs in 10 days. there are several things you can use for CRD But I could only get this Tylon 50 so it was what I used, worked for me.

Vegas - Bill worked with some guys that went out there.....LOL
Of course, they were gonna get rich. They said, "Yup, we went
out there in Bubba's old $1,000 car, and came home in a
big silver $500,000 ride."

Yup, said "Greyhound" on the side........LOL

We're hatching Butler Bobwhite Quail. It has been the strangest
hatch of quail we've ever had. Out of 115, 45 hatched, then
nothing for 18 hours. We were pretty disappointed. We got
these eggs from Bill's auction buddy, so they weren't shipped
eggs. Then, all of a sudden, the second wave of them hatched.
So, we ended up with a good hatch, just strange. We raised
a bunch of these several years ago and really enjoyed them.
Grown, they'll go from 13 - 16 ounces.

Got my fingers crossed.......We're going down tomorrow to
see if we can get in yet at Petit Bay....If we can, I'll be down
there for two weeks, and "they" can run back and forth every
other day and tend all these "birdies" that they've hatched...LOL

Have a good one !

If you make it to the lake make sure you bring your Camera!!! we want fishing PIC's LOL. I hope you have a great time and be safe.

BUT I don't know what to do with it. I've never seen anything so little. I'm scared I'll hurt it. LOL

Can anyone give me some advice. I have been so busy with the passing of mom that I have barely had time to turn them. Do I treat them the same way I would a chick? Is there anything special that I need to do? Is it best if I keep them in the house after they dry? I'm afraid they will get too hot outside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
