We had a big thunderstorm come thru Tuttle last night that knocked out the power for 3 1/2 hours. Luckily, the hatching chicks in the hatcher and the 2 sportsman incubators seem to be doing ok. Lots of chicks hatching tonight from eggs Gerald bought at Blanchard 3 weeks ago

Gerald had fun going to the Edmond 4th of July parade with his military truck. I wanted to go, but didn't want to get up & leave at 5:30 am to go with him. Here's a link to his Steel Soldiers site telling about the parade http://www.steelsoldiers.com/upcoming-events/35973-july-4th-parade-edmond-ok-2009-a-4.html

Well
the power outage we had last night fried my home phone and I don't have my high speed internet service either. I need to call to see what's wrong with it. Luckily, I have Gerald's laptop with internet. I still can get my internet fix, although it's slow going.

Gotta go pull lots of chicks out of the incubator now.

Everyone take care!

Wow! I'm the first post of the daylight hours - at 10:00 a.m, no less. Everyone must be busy. I hope all had a good Independence Day.

I got back from the Panhandle last night - the closest I got to Teach was going to church in Hardesty yesterday morning. My dad seems to be in a lot of pain and discomfort but he preached two services Sunday - he really is a great preacher, if I do say so myself - his lessons are always timely for me.

This Sunday's was "The Greatest Generation," and how we all judge the current generation according to the standards set by the generation we were raised in. The children of God - the followers of Jesus are the Greatest Generation. And in spite of the different challenges each generation faces - WWII and the Depression by "the Greatest Generation," rebuilding and New Morality by the Boomers, Terrorism and Global Community today's generation faces, the answer has always been and will always be the same: Jesus Christ.

John - thanks for the POOPS pics you posted a while back!

Greybear - you are still in my prayers and I'm hoping things get better all
around for you.

muesky, I found this on craigslist http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/grd/1255444288.html

I
have several peafowl chicks for sale. Several! These will range from $25.00 to $30.00 each.
Call or email for specifics on colors available. These are pure, not mixed chicks.

Just thought I would pass this along since I am a firm believer that everyone needs a peacock!! Now if I could only convince Hubby that this applies to me too!

Hi CityClucks, how's it going? Are you the only one up this morning? I processed my 10 cornish X and 1 friends birds Friday morning, along with 3 neighbors and my rooster culls. It went pretty well and I even had MIL and another neighbor that wanted to learn how pitch in and help. A friends mentally challenge daughter that lives in a group home was visiting for the 4th and her birthday yesterday asked if I would fix her some dutch oven food because it is her favorite. I took the easy way out and did chicken and potatoes. My wife thought that it was the best chicken she has ever eaten and everyone else loved it too. There is nothing like fresh chicken!

Okies, have a great week.

Hey Okes

Back from the Big "D". Had a blast. Yesterday was the best. Church was awesome...then went Abuelos for lunch after. Margaritas and spinach enchiladas! Then a 2 hour nap! Best I've slept in a couple weeks. Then the ride home. I love driving on the southern plains. Put on some Red Dirt music and just enjoy the gorjemousness.... What a blessing to live here. (*Even though they are saying it will be 107 by Thursday*)

Sounds like eveyone is alive and kicking....I'm getting ready to redo my mom's old room. Got paint and some stuff at Hobby Lobby that was on sale. Can you beat Hobby Lobby?

Love y'all....

I would say that we have a winner but I am waiting for a response from chaoschicken who sent me in a random vote from the Pacific northwest. I posted on another thread and they picked up on my sig line and PM'd me a vote. Problem is I don't know if they are an out-of-state Okie or just wanted to vote on their favorite, so if they are indeed an Okie then we have a tie.

I heard through the grapevine ( Misty ) that Cements Saturday sale was a big bust, as expected there were only 30 birds and it was all over in 30 minutes. I am glad I decided to babysit some ribs and cold Corona's, Next month will at least be much better. I am glad everybody had a good & safe holiday weekend, the showers we got helped played a big part in not having any brush fires due to fireworks, it has been super dry here.

My coop/chicken condo is almost finished one more pen to go and then some paint this time maybe two colors WHOA!!, thats way uptown LOL. I hope everybody has a good week.

Blasfemy!!!! White BBQ sauce ??, no I have never heard of such a thing. I wonder what the base would be made of, I am a purest of sorts when it comes to BBQ sauce, Monty may have some insight on if he has ever seen a white sauce in any compitition.

I have my reservations on using mayo with direct or indirect heat and especially with ACV that will tend to curd the mayo under heat. I do like the idea of a cream based sauce for the stripper though, it will help cut the gamieness of the red strip. If you give me some time I could probably come up with something WHITE that would be a little more stable over heat, but still have the kick you desire.

Yes, I know what you mean about the heat problems with mayo. This would just be applied after grilling to the chicken as sauce, not heated except for what the meat does to it. Keep me informed on the heat resistant alternative brainstorming session, I had never even considered that possibility.

How's work/weather?
