When I spoke to this judge he mentioned a guy from Missouri who drove down and bought some birds from Amos after our transaction, and they were young birds too, so your theory about a secret back barn seems true. Anyway this guy made some strong comments on the conditions at Amos's barn just like we observed.
I am building a little data base of these breeders it is going slow but coming along, he mentioned that Cornish breeders are a secretive bunch, I think we are finding that out.

Good morning all, my dad just left to go back to Texas, he came to visit for the weekend, watched fireworks from my moms backdoor in the rain, it was a fantastic show of fireworks and lightning, I am feeling some better, kinda over did it friday morning in the garden and had a slight relaps, slept four hours and feel a little better now today, I think I need to get my blood pressure meds recalibrated, I got kinds dizzy and nausious after taking them and out in the heat, we got a nice rain saturday morning here, my garden sure woke up to the rain, especially the grass, LOL, hope all are doing good, have not been on much, John thanks for the pics and update on the chickens, tell BigOkie to do his best and let me know what going on, if possible have him call me Sunday sometime and visit, wanted to get a head count on all the chicks and birds for my tax records, thanks again Chuck and John for the help with the chicken deal, Dakota is home now from all the visiting so we are talking about making some changes to the way the animal things are done around here, hope to give him more control over the decisions for the animals and farm stuff, I have realized some things after this heat stress deal that I need to change, maybe it will work for the best all around, sometimes change is good even though it is hard to accept at first, stay cool all, Lynn

Hey Al and Pepper - Good to see you guys on here !!! I
guess Bill got lucky with the Bantam Cornish that he bought
up there. So far, they're laying and hatching.

Greybear - Am maybe reading between the lines, but just
may be there could be a silver lining to this cloud. Am sooooo
glad that you are feeling somewhat better, but this could take
some time. And, am thinking, could be a "major step" for
Dakota to stretch his wings and actually take on some
responsibility and start that "slippery slope" walk from
childhood into manhood.

Won't be easy for him and he's gonna "blow it bigger than
Dallas" on occasion, and won't be easy for Dad to let him
take the reins, either. Gees, all the crap we all put our
parents through..........sometimes surprises me that there
even is a "next generation"..........LOL

Good afternoon,
I am enjoying the cooler temperatures and being able to keep the fans on the rabbits turned off for awhile.
My NPIP certificate arrived last week also, so guess I need to order the antigen and forms so I can be "official"
Think I will go get some eggs from the incubator and stick them under the broody hen that has been sitting on a golf ball and a chalk egg for 2 weeks. Maybe if some chicks hatch under her she will be able to get off the nest and I won't have to worry about putting them into the brooder.

I have decided that my guineas and turkeys are hatching much better in the hovabator, rather than the sportsman. I suspect that since the hovabator is in the house and the Sportsman is in the garage that the hovabator does a better job of keeping a constant temperature during hatching. I haven't had any more of the swollen hocks and feet when hatching in the hovabator.

My pheasants are still challenging me and I am looking for suggestions on how to keep them alive after they hatch. I don't know whether it is a protein issue (since I gave them boiled eggs) or a temperature problem, but all 8 that hatched last week died within 3 days of hatching.

Hey everyone, sounds like everyone is busy. I should be but had a little too much fun celebrating the 4th so not feeling like doing much of anything but trying to make the headache go away.

I had a baby peafowl hatch today. One out of 6 really sucks but I am grateful I got any at all. It sure is cute but I am really worried about it. I had to crack it out of the shell. It has been peeping really loud since yesterday morning and I was afraid it was going to die in the egg. Been loving and checking on it all afternoon. Hoping it will pull through.

So I am looking for peafowl eggs and chicks. I now have a new addiction (like I don't have enough of those)

The last two weeks I have been dreaming about white peacocks cause nothing says class like having peacocks struting around my trailer home.

Planning to go to Blanchard auction next weekend. Man if I do not get to an auction soon I am going to

. The withdraws are painful. Hope to see a lot of you there. Maybe it will not be as hot as last time. I am looking for polish crested and of course peacocks.
Will going to finish watching my movie and do the dishes. Hope everyone has a good evening.

just wanted to let everyone know, Spike is slowly recovering- still unclear as to the cause of the paralysis- but have been hand feeding, he is at a point now where he is getting movement back in his legs, he can preen his chest and shoulder, seems weaker on the right side. he is being given vitamins, a little yogurt and oatmeal with the vitamins and Vit E mixed in, and i have now added crumbles- he began eating on his own thursday.

he really is a miracle silkie- and sillie me, got all jazzed cuz he had solid poop today...
