See ya at the auctions when its cooler I guess.....

So far, we've missed all the rain, but thankfully we have cloud cover. The humidity is sure high out there ... or at least I sure was soaked with sweat from feeding & watering.

Gerald took his big ol' army truck & was in a 4th of July parade in Edmond today. He said he had a lot of fun. Poor thing is sleeping right now. I don't think he got any sleep last night.

I wanted to go to the Cement auction after my family get-together tonight, but Gerald is too tired. Luckily Misti & Jerry offered to check things out for us & maybe buy something for us if there's something special we're looking for. THANK YOU Misti & Jerry!!!!

Happy 4th everyone.

We are have a quiet one here. No company and we're not visiting so its just the two of us and the dogs! Its been cloudy all day,we got in the pool but the water was cold! Now its trying to come up a thunder storm.
Sure be glad when everyone slows down and get time to visit on here again.
Nana how did you get out having to cook for the holidays. Seems someone always ropes you into it.
Haven't been to any sales in two weeks! Going into withdrawal. I think I have one next weekend. Going to take my pair of magpie ducks, hope to find a hen for my topknot drake.
Well you all have a cracking popping time but be careful.

Well... Merangue isn't eating or drinking I've not had to refill her water or food, she just sits there sleeping. I gave her a blanket, as weird as that sounds, because I couldn't keep her warm any other way that I could think of. She'll sort of stand to shift into a more comfortable position sometimes but other than that she just lays there.

We got a tiny bit of rain today. Maybe it will break loose tomorrow and wet the pastures.

We were in Yukon, OK, to celebrate my husband's grandfather's 102nd birthday. We gave Opa B. a horn for his walker. He can hardly see, but he moves like a bullet train once he gets going. We hope the horn will help him avoid collisions with staff and wheel chairs at the assisted living center. That's right, assisted living, not a nursing home. He does just about everything except drive, on account of his poor vision.

Speaking of poor vision, I must have missed a breach in the fence behind the barn because when we got back from Yukon there were cows standing around the trampoline. We got all the pie makers back into the pasture and fixed the fence. It was dark by the time the new posts were in place, so picking up what the cows left will have to wait until tomorrow.

The chickens have discovered June bugs, so now we let them stay out until just after dusk. I hung a shop light on the side of the pen to attract the crunchy snacks, and the chickens went crazy. I've never seen so much pushing and shoving, except in line for concert tickets.

I hope everyone enjoys good weather tomorrow. I'm ready for a break from the heat.

SlightlyCracked - Woke up thinking about you this morning.
Haven't seen you on here much lately.

Have you decided for sure about the hatching project for the
fair? Am getting a little concerned about being able to
collect up a big bunch of eggs. This heat has really got 'em
slacking. And, they're hiding them all over the lot when
we let them out for the day, too. Am hoping this little cool
snap will put them back in the mood so we could save them
for several days before you guys are down here.

Teach - Hope you're headed out to have some fun this week.

Is still cloudy and cool here this morning. We'd better enjoy it.
Sounds like the heat will be back this next week.

Have a good one !

Hey Charley :

Yes I am getting eggs pretty steady now and have about a dozen in the bator, I candled last night and unfortunately they seem to be clear and infertile. I have been trying to extract (AI) from the roosters but haven't had any luck getting any fluid, I keep trying everyday in hopes they will get used to it. These birds are so big and muscular Charley it makes it so hard.

How about you anything yet??.

AL

I spoke to a breeder and judge in California who from what I was told Bill's little banty's are from him and the lines have won many shows nationaly. He shipped some birds to Amos in a trade that were show winners.

Not yet Al.

I tried 36 eggs from the hatchery birds but none were fertitle. I am going to swich roos and see if it helps. The only thing is the red white laced is too leggy for me but He may be able to do the job without AI them. I am going to have to build a small hutch type pen so it will be easer to catch the roo to try and handle him.

That sounds good. I know that the ones I have I am very happy with so He has gotten good stock from somewhere.

It is just going to take a little while for me to get this all down. I really don't think that is all that bad, just learning how.
