Beth :
When you finally decide and get your weapon, give me a buzz for some real world pointers on handling & gun safety, It paramount I feel, reading about safety just doesn't sink in well enough.

Yo dog !!! Will you and KT be wearing your colors at the next POOPS LOL.

LOL When I first started out I knew I would expanding at some point and that it would probably be ongoing, so I planned for that so any future expansion goes easy, and it has proven to be a good choice. I have added on twice allready and this is the third, I still have the individual outside runs to build but that should go fast. I have tricity 5 ft from the bldg but will wire it this fall for lights and heat, along with piped in water in each area.

Good to know, since the Glock 26 (9mm) is currently a top-runner in my mind. DBF carries a little Kel-tec and is trying to talk me into getting one of those since it's an easy carry, but I don't like it - too small for me to comfortably rack the slide, and .380 ammo is too expensive and hard to find!

I'll gladly take any and all advice - thank you! I have a 5-shot .357 Magnum snub-nose revolver, but I keep it loaded with .38 Special ammo - the .357 kick with that short barrel is a little scary to me and my accuracy is a lot better with the .38. I want a semi-auto just because...no good reason, really. The revolver is probably a better CCW for me because it's fool-proof...but I have a major jones for a semi-auto!

For home defense DBF wants me to get a shotgun. Which is a whole 'nother research project. Feel free to just tell me which shotgun you'd recommend I get.

Yes, me & KT will be riding in an old beater Impala with wheels that cost more than the car is worth. You'll be able to hear and feel our rap music coming from 300 yards. We'll be the ones wearing the pink chicken-skull-and-cross-drumstick do-rags.

OMG....ROTFLMFAO..... Beth are you sure you NEVER lived in California? Because it sounds like you know the drill....that is hilarious...

Al with the heat she has.....she'd make us all look like your snake!!! Pieces!!! LOL... I needed a good laugh. You guys all rock!

Well got the nesting boxes all cleaned out, and the roosts scrubbed and everything cleaned up and rearranged in the coop. Misters are already on...even the coop one. They should do better today than yesterday. The danged wind is nuts!! My best friend called me once when she still lived in CA. and asked me what the weather was like that day. I told her 105 with a 30 mph wind...she didn't believe me. I told her no joke. She said I was nuts and I was living in a blow dryer. They said we could have a heat index of 115 the next few days. Yee-Haw.

Quenston, Didn't you say there were no holes in the pen? If not then I don't see how dogs are the culprit. You said part of the pen didn't have a top so I am guessing whatever hit you came in from the top.

Depends on how high the run is. My neighbors dog flies right over the top of their 6" privacy fence. I have seen him. He is a mix breed, looks to be part retriever. They win lots of bets from unsuspecting folks that way. I do know of some one that had owls get in but usually their was damage to the head area.

Hey Monty,

The best place to buy LS-50 is Americanlivestock.com, and if you spend over $75 then shipping is FREE!!!!! They usually get the order to me in less than a week.

I buy the generic version for $22.95 and then there's the real LS-50 for $28.95 each package. If you need some immediately, I have a little you could borrow. I tried the stuff when I bought some birds at the Cement auction that were horribly ill .... sneezing, bubbly eyes, etc. It cleared them up immediately. I've had a few occurrences of "colds" with chicks I've bought at auctions, and treated them with LS-50 for 10 days and they perked right up. It is definitely better than any other med's we've tried. I add 1 teaspoon to each gallon of water. We also have some Sulmet on hand too.

I highly recommend American Livestock to everyone. Prices are lower than the feed stores on practically everything, and free shipping over $75, except for items that are FOB, whatever that means.

I love their rubber feed tubs too ... excellent in the winter when breaking ice to water the critters. http://www.americanlivestock.com/pm-1746-15104-feed-pan.aspx

FOB-free on board; means shipping is included in the price, provided by shipper or manufacturer, etc.

Thanks Carla, I've been going with cutlersupply.com but I'll check them out too. Are you feeling better, besides all the overtime?

Sorry Stray.
