Thanks Carla for the link to a new supplier. I use a lot of those rubber pans for the rabbits and in fact bought 4 of them yesterday. The cheapest I have found them locally is at Lumber 2 and they were $2.99 each a few months ago, but $3.49 was the price yesterday.....which is still cheaper than Atwoods or the feed stores. I bookmarked the store's website.

Isn't Oklahoma amazing? While parts of it got thunderstorms today, others have temperatures over 100 degrees and the wind is back. Actually, I am sort of glad the wind is back. Otherwise, it would be unbearable outside even in the shade. The breeze helps evaporate the sweat and cools me down. Still, I need a sweatband so my eyes don't start burning after 15 minutes outside. KT, I think you described the weather well when you called it "juicey"

Of course, the best thing about Oklahoma isn't the weather, it is the fine people who live here.

Stray, sorry about the loss of Merangue. I know you did everything possible for her.

I put a sprinkler on the pen and everyone is running around enjoying it. I fear my water bill this month...!!!

Well, this heat is more up my alley than the stuff from last month. I was born in the central San Joaquin Valley of CA (right next to a little settlement called Little Okie, of all places), and this high dry heat is the norm. It's the humidity that kills me.

But then, I don't have to work outside any more like a lot of y'all do.

I couldn't find Victoria in our atlas map Henny. Exactly where is it. Obviopusly very far out west! Wow your temps are really bad. Do you have any humidity too?Maybe you need prairie chickens instead!lol.

Stray ,sorry for you lost one,its always the favorites that we loose it seems. Try not to dwell on it,remember there are lots more chickies out there.

My chicks are doing much much better. I lost about five or so and I have four or five that are still acting sick but looking better.
Then I have six. other pens of young birds I have started on antibiotics and they seem well.
Hopefully the worst is over.

checking in, still trying to get the guinea run and coop done, they are really a different critter!

my sick silkie is recovering, he has gotten his wing movement back, and tried to take a step today- and has begun chirping again,

sure would like to know what happened, can chickens get heat stroke? looking at our temps, guess i better freeze some bottles and get ready for it, sigh... grew up in san diego, and like buster said, its the humidity that does me in! how hot can a chicken handle?

You crack me up with your impression of you and your Bro KT cruisen the chicken hood lookin to set things right LOL, does the impala have hydralics for jumping hehehe. Sounds like you are well informed on the weapons issue, and your BF seems to be a good teacher about handling them. I do agree with him on the shotgun issue, I use mine mainly for hunting and critters not to mention scaring teenage boys away from my Daughter LOL. My wife happens to be a pretty good trap and skeet shooter so she can also handle herself in a pinch, I used to travel alot when I was in the service so she learned fast.

Hey Al, another good line to scare off them boy critters is to tell them"Hey I ain't afraid to go back to prison!" Daughter gives you this horrid look meaning "I can't beleive you said that" ,the boys think its a look of"Please don't tell him what you did daddy".gets em every time!
