We got a steady drizzle all day here in Haskell. All the chickens sat under the coop and grumbled.
My granddaughter is soooo excited about coming to POOPS. I am as well. We've dug through some family cook books to see what we can bring. We're still deciding, but we have a tip to share with those who like to use crock pots.
We camp a lot in the summer and usually take frozen food to cook in crock pots. Some of you may want to try this because it is easy, easy, easy. You need freezer bags and crock pot liners (
Wal-Mart has both in the isle where they stock sandwich bags and aluminum foil).
1. Cut up all the meat and vegetables you plan to cook and put them in a freezer bag, add water and seasoning.
2. Close the bag and put the uncooked meal in the freezer until the day you travel.
3. When you get where you're going, put a liner in your crock pot, empty the contents of the freezer bag into the liner, plug it in and go do something fun.
4. Enjoy your crock pot meal, store your leftovers, and throw away the liner. Wipe out your crock pot and you're ready for next time.
My sister likes to cook all her meals in her crock pot
before hand. She freezes the already cooked meals and then just heats them up in the lined crock pot when she gets to the camp ground. This way she gets lunch and dinner hot out of the crock pot with no washing up.
