You need to have at least 10 cumulative acres of land (does not need to be in one tract) and a tractor. You will have to list your total number of farm animals. Your county courthouse Treasurer's Office does all the paperwork. Just go in person to apply for the permit.

Good Luck!

I've got 80 acres but not tractor, unless I can count the riding mower, or the ATV. How big does my tractor need to be? What if the tractor doesn't run? My neighbor has a few rusty tractors parked in his back field.

Sure, count the neighbors rusty tractor. *haha* We didn't have a tractor when we first got our permit. All we had was about 12 acres and 4 cows. And I think they've become more open about it, because at the time you had to have 1000 chickens to get a tax exemption! But it sounds like Dandelion knows the stuff!

Here is the website for information on obtaining a farm tax permit in Oklahoma County. I suspect that the information is similar for the various counties. In Oklahoma County, there isn't a minimum number of acres required, provided you are actively farming your acreage. You are taxed based upon the personal property you use for farm purposes, such as tractors, brush hogs, plows, etc. http://www.oklahomacounty.org/assessor/farm.htm

here
is a website for Rogers county
http://www.rogerscounty.org/farmpersonal.html

this website for Carter county says that there is no minimum acreage for actively farmed land, but to have your property assessed as agricultural for tax purposes, you must have at least 5 acres

After a late start and some bad weather problems & heat/drought, my garden seems to be rebounding back. I got my first zuccinni & squash yesterday and the rest are at last taking off, Tomato's, cucumbers, beans, peppers, Melon's, and my basil plants are a admirable 2' tall (pesto hear I come). How is everybody else's plot's doing ?.
