I have a much better hatch rate when I use dry incubation, Course my incubators are in the barn, so what ever the humidity is in there is what they get, just like the hen would have, My though is that the hen can't change the humidity so why should I try to..I guess that is just me..( I could be wrong) so I just wait and see

about 7am I could hear thunder whlile I was sitting in an old coop thinking how to redo it. I was hoping we was gonna get a nice rain but now it sounds as if it will pass us by.

Most the Guinea eggs I set where old, when I candled they had big air cells. Out of 180 ive got 60-64 fertile and developing. Oh well, thats how it goes sometimes. I should still hatch enough for what I have planned.

Hey all, I am still alive and kicking. Real busy around here. Getting ready for a wedding tomorrow evening and then a family reunion here on Saturday. Oldest brother is home from Switzerland and youngest brother just came in from Iraq yesterday. Trying to spend as much time with them while they are home. Not able to be on the computer much and my poor chickens have forgotten who I am.

Yes KT I have read the Stand by Stephen King, one of my fav's of his.
If you really liked that one try Swan Song by B.J. Mchammon (I think that is the right name).

Grand baby should be coming home by Sunday or Monday. She is gaining about 2 oz a day now. And taking in 45 cc's of breast milk now. They just want her to take it all every feeding(she was getting 6 of the 8 feedings from a bottle the other 2 thru a tube) and then they will let her come home.

Sure am loving the cooler temps we are having.

Monty: God only knows what you would see in a tortilla chip or a cinnamon roll!!!

Les, that is the article I have book marked. I just can't imagine not adding water....Maybe I have baked too many cakes out of a box. Then he says to pull the vent plug from the start. I lowered the temp on my 1588 this morning. It was running 100.5 so I dropped her down a notch. Now I'm thinking if I'm gonna leave the vent hole open till hatch, I shoulda left it? Jeez...it's like physics!!

Yesterday was along day. My sister in Utah had the brilliant idea to take my Mom for glasses. What a disaster. She was so stressed out over the eye test she was shaking and near tears. I told her it wasn't pass or fail, salvation was not dependent upon it...Just let him know when she sees better. Then he said he would not recommend glasses for her, because she has been 30 yrs without them and it would be too difficult for her to adjust. She could fall real easy, or trip over something. She was bent about that. He said that he could get her distance glasses, but only if she used them when seated, like to watch TV....She said she could see TV fine...(then why are we here?) and that the dimestore reading glasses she had were better than the ones he gaver her. Then they found a hemorrage in her right eye in the back. My sis says that is fairly normal in people her age. But after her stroke in April she is scared to death now. She kept saying she just wanted the bifocals, but she was afraid of wearing them to work

What a mistake. She had been nagging for months to go to the eye doctor. Now they want to follow up every month and it's like $200.00 because Medicare won't pay for it....only twice a year. Poor Mike, by the time I got home I had a migraine, my PVCs were going full tilt and I had the shakes. I think I am going to forego the whole thing. She is really going to have trouble going through all that once a month. The doc says they usually resolve themselves.

On a high note, my egg seller called and took all 9 dz eggs I had left. He said people are calling and asking for them? I think he is on drugs.

Henny, I once saw Redd Foxx (Sanford and Son) in a cow chip.

I can help you see the face if you want. My daughter couldn't see it and then I started showing her the features and it popped right out at her.
Print a copy and bring it to POOPS and I will show you. Or call me and I will detail it.

Bush is the one who did that, not Obama:

"In the 2007 Defense Authorization Bill, over the objections from all 50 state Governors, the U.S. Congress modified the Insurrection Act of 1807 to allow the President to federalize National Guard troops and use them in the states to respond to a “natural disaster, epidemic or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident” when the President determines that “authorities of the state or possession are incapable of maintaining public order.”"

A poultry guru friend of mine does not use any humidity until the first egg pips. He candles throughout the process so he can observe if an egg is drying down too fast. Also depends upon environmental humidity.

And the caprice of Mother Nature
