Hey Monty. Your town of Choctaw was on the History Channel. There is a man living in Choctaw, that says that there is a big black cat roaming around your parts. Something like a big black panther or leopard.

Monty-- or anyone else--I have quail, ducks, chicks, and chickens running out the ears and I don't know what to do with all of them. My feed bill is horrible. That's what I get for finding this site. I got so carried away buying hatching eggs I've about hatched myself out of house and home. LOL!

I don't know how to price them to sell. I think what I want to do is just keep enough barnyard mutts to keep us supplied with eggs and then get rid of the rest. I want to build my supply of special breeds of chickens and sell those eggs. I got it this so fast and had no idea what I was doing and now I don't know how to get myself out of this mess. I now know this stuff is addicting!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah that show is about a year or two old though. THe first time I saw it I about fell out of my chair when they said Choctaw.
His place is about a mile from me as the crow flies. He was on the local news here several times befiore that show was ever filmed.
The wildlife dept. downplayed everything but in there defense they never found any evidence when they were out there and attributed the killings to a pack of dogs.
He lost a lot of livestock and swears he saw a black cat. If there was one around, I thnk it has moved on because I haven't heard anything in awhile.
His place is less than two miles from the KOA where P.O.O.P.S. is going to be.
If there was one I would guess it was an escapee from somewhere.
I went to that man's house right after I saw the show the first time but he wasn't home. I wanted to get the story first hand.
I have a very good friend that swears to me that he saw one near Henryetta. I teased him about it and he said that is why he never told anyone but family and friends because they would all think he is nuts.
Anyway, I have to admit sometimes I was thinking about it when I went to my chicken pens at night.
I need to see that one again, thanks.

Well, You could list what you want to sell here and maybe some of our folks would want some.
At least we might can give you an idea of what they might bring.

It is hard to figure what to ask for them . I always struggle with that. They don't usually bring what they are worh but sometimes it is wiser to just reduce your flock so you can do the same to your feed bill.
I am not much on advice, oh I can give it but I don't listen to myself. I have been trying to get down to three breeds for years and now I have added quail into the mix.
Addicts shouldn't ask addicts for help!
But I'll do what I can.

I think sharing with your fellow okie folks at our fall event would be super. Most importantly though is that we get to visit with you in person.

Hey Al, How am I doing?

I also statted last fall but have been taking baby steps to ensure that I have enough room to house all that I have!! Believe me I am hooked,!I am with chickens like women are with clothing and shoes!!

Have any of y'all ever seen a mountain lion in your part of the state? When I was a kid my dad and I found a young one dead on the side of 31 highway. We were going back to the truck, after fishing.

One had been spotted a few years back by the Dolese plant in Hartshorne. Several had seen that one, including my son.
