You people are too funny! I have to admit to the temptation of wanting to choke some of the roosters I have had, to be honest. The only reason I didn't was probably because of the thought of having to heat the water and the setup that takes. Now that I'm skinning them, that could very well change.

Brick, the Elgin auction folks have 4 or 5 auctioneers who do tag team style for the most part, but at the beginning they split into two groups for a while so one group can sell just the smaller stuff, and yeah, there is a lot of that, too. Makes sense when you are selling tractors for tens of thousands of dollars sometimes to not want to get bogged down in the little stuff, yet some the little stuff is just what some folks need and want.

There will be considerably more equipment by auction day, I assure you. Folks get the email or snail mail notice like I just did and are reminded of that trailer they wanted to get rid of.

Me, I'm looking forward to bidding on that Honda bike!

ETA:
They set aside all day Friday so folks can come and look at the stuff and test it out and all. That is how I got such great deals. I tested it, took down all the information, then checked online to see how much that generator cost or is worth used. That way I know my limit before the auction even starts. Tough to do on auction day when all the bidding starts.

We have a wonderful neighbor that sells cattle at auctions ( Keiser) is his last name( not sure I am spelling it right) and he keeps telling me we should go one of these days....

Been a very very long time since I attended one I m sure I would get into trouble with MR if I ever came home with more stuff.... although bidding on a tractor I think would win me Wife points... tee hee.

PS: In Oklahoma is it just easy to go buy a fishing license or do you have to go through a course like hunter safety? Curious to know cause I think the hubster, father in law and kids and myself are going to have to have a fishing contest against AL.. Someone mentioned to us that we had to take a class.... ? I thought classes were just for the hunter safety stuff

Nope, no class stuff for a fishing license. The new class stuff
is for young people driving a boat that are under the age of 16,
and it applies to the water bikes as well.

And, that is a much needed regulation. Am sure any of us that
have been around a lake have seen way too many close calls.

Good luck with your contest against Al. Looks to me like he
just might be on a roll.....LOL

Have a good one !

No you dont have to take a coarse for fishing in Oklahoma, the only time that a test has to be taken is if a minor under 16 is going to be operating a power boat, as far as fishing pay $25 for your license and go fishing!!!!

Quenston - Did you end up going to Afton? Bill's Uncle Jack
went up there and took some pigeons and sold them all 10
minutes after he got there. He said there weren't very many
birds today. I think we'll probably make the treck up there
the Saturday before Labor Day...usually a good crowd on a
holiday weekend. We sure need to get rid of a bunch of
birds. We used to go up there several times a year, but it's
been quite a while since we've gone.

Have a good one !

NANA- I did go to Afton walked through the whole place there were birds but good Lord I am thinking that some people feed there chickens gold the way they were priced!! The last place that I stopped was getting ready to pack up and I ended up buying 9 Giuneas and a total of 13 birds with some silkies, seabrights, silkies and black astros,So I did have a pretty good day ended up giving the guineas to my dad

We, ok not we, John and Shaun skinned the birds that they processed. And they was Delish!! We need to find some more to do!!

Well the poultry barn in now set up at the Ottawa County Fair. Tomorrow we will place tags on cages and that is probably it.

We set up the petting zoo in our barn!! So far we have a mini burro, 2 llamas, a nubian goat, a nigerian (sp?) goat and a katotian (sp?) sheep. I would really liike to have a baby pig or two but I have located one yet.
The swine barn guy said he had a sow and her piglets in a farrowing crate, that would be cool but I don't know if that would stress her out to much.

I am off to take a nap!!

I can't hardly wait for POOPS to come down and visit and REST!!

Neecy

Neecy, sounds like you are the poultry superintendent at your fair. Our turn is coming up the first part of September. My wife is on the fair board and I barely see her that week. But we wouldn't want it any other way. All for the kids.

Here I am, stuck at work on another beautiful Saturday, wishing I were outside and enjoying the Oklahoma weather. I've got so much to do at home and never enough time when I'm there.

Gerald is loading up his pickup for us to go to Mary's Swap Meet in OKC early Sunday morning. I helped him catch 30 or so 3-4 week old guineas, about a dozen blue slate turkey poults and I pulled a dozen or so water lilies out of my koi pond to take to the flea market. Gerald is now going through the garden and gathering all the zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, green tomatoes, etc. that he can find and whatever else he can think of to put in the truck to sell. He sure enjoys himself ... I think he'd like to make it a career selling at the flea market ... me, on the other hand, would love to sleep late Sunday morning. But, I guess I'll drag my lazy self out of bed in the morning & go with him this time.

Misti,

The beef people decided that they wanted in the new barn this year so we got to move in to their barn. It is a HUGE political mess that I am not willing to wade off in. Just tell me where to set up and that's where we will have our show!! We have 376 animals in our show! 67 rabbits and 309 birds!! WOW!

I am making signs now for our petting zoo animals and fun poultry fact sheets. I want everyone to know poultry projects are just as fun as everything else!!
