Good morning!
Looks like a beautiful day in Oklahoma! I am going to work outside until it gets over 85 degrees (maybe about 9:00 this morning?) The rain looks like it is to the NE and SE of OKC, but maybe we will have enough cloud cover to keep it cool for awhile.

I moved some guineas and turkeys from the brooder to the outside pen Thursday morning, so am a bit surprised we didn't have a huge thunderstorm yesterday - that has seemed to be my luck this summer. Sort of like washing the car to trigger a rain shower.

Good morning everyone hope all is well, it is cloudy and warm here looking like rain but none yet, thinking of going to the swap this weekend but havnt decided I am really lazy this morning!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Good to see so many people posting about POOPS. My granddaughter wants to speed up time so she can get there sooner.

School started for us on Wednesday, so I've spent most of this morning catching up on all your posts. I'll spend my afternoon learning 170 new names and faces.

Beth, I sent you a PM about the GLCs. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

I am doing as well as I can, Thanks for asking Monty, I was just setting here thinking how nice it would have been to be out there with Al yesterday catching them fish.. My brother and I were going to go this week ..But life got in the way.. you know how that goes,

Monty it looks like you guys are really going to have a big turn out for Poops, Do you remember the count in the spring, sure seems like it has grown, with all the new members to the group.

Well off to feed for me, so you guys and gals have a good weekend..

Will bring some stuff to donate and some good food.

Muesky-have decided to give you my houdan hen as I am going to try my luck at breeding to get my own houdans and some frizzle polish. Will bring to POOPS for you. Her name is Lisa Marie.

Lookin- for some frizzles, all colors, roos and hens, prefer ones that are laying. Guinea keets in lavender, white, pearl.

Well going to a pool party in Choctaw with the church. Have a good day all.

Wow. Sorry you guys are having a hard time, Misti. Hope things turn out okay for all of you. Life can certainly be hard sometimes.

I just wanted to once again publicly thank Al for teaching me the ins and outs of processing my first batch of roosters a few weeks ago. That was such a generous thing to do. DW and I just did another batch this morning, our first solo flight. I wanted to reinforce in my brain some of the things Al taught me.

We skinned them this time, though. Since neither of us likes the skin on our chickens anyway, we are probably going to skin most of our future batches. Much faster and easier than plucking, I think, plus less setup and equipment.

So, I have processed all of 5 chickens in my adult life. Now I'm a real pro!

Buster--I (processed) my first rooster on my own. I just wish Al had been around to show me how. I was doing it because I was so mad at a rooster we had. It flogged my 3 year old grandaughter, making her bleed and bruised her leg prett bad. Boy did he make the wrong move.

I was screaming at my husband to get the gun and blow him away as that was the second time he had done that.

My husband was not moving as fast as I thought he should (LOL) so I took it in my own hands, "litteraly". I caught the rooster, he was trying to peck me, get loose, and everything else that goes with a "caught" chicken. The thought went through my mind "what the heck do I do now".

As the rooster tried to get away I had to squeeze harder to hang on and that's when I realize I choking him to death. OOH! My 7 and 9 year old nephews were there and clapping and laughing like they were at a rooster fight! They thought it was a hoot seeing Aunt Donna running and having a fit over that rooster.

Then I had now idea what to do but keep squeezing. I DO NOT ever want to do that again. However, I will never have an animal harm anyone, especially my grandbaby. Then I knew I had to butcher him or just waste him so I just started going on my instinks like doing a deer. My daughter cooked him and made tortilla soup out of him. My nephews had the weirdest look on their faces when they knew they were eating "Dummy" as I had always called him.

We had a good laugh. My grandaughter still entertains us with showing what Memaw did to the rooster for hurting her. My daughter said, "Mom, remind me not to really make you mad", LOL!

Hi Buster, we skin ours too. It's been awhile since we processed any, but the way things are going, I think we are going to start again. I don't really trust what we are provided with in the stores.

Does the auction in Elgin sell smaller stuff that's not listed? Things like tools and different misc. stuff too small to list in the sales paper.

WOW! I never thought of choking the krap out of them to vent my frustrations...I can choke roosters all day, all the while envisioning family, friends and government officials! WTG Donna....ANd I thought I had too many roos!
