Disclaimer: this group is comprised of many "enablers" and if you are not already addicted to hatching, acquiring poultry and/or attending poultry auctions, we will do our best to get you addicted along with us.
On the other hand, it is also a wonderful source of information.

There is just something about little girls that makes grown men forget they are the adult in charge of the situation. Of course, at our house, the grandsons make my husband forget that he is the adult and can say "no" to requests to go to the convenience store for a treat - again.

It is wonderful that you get to spend time with your grandchildren almost every day. You are making wonderful memories for them.

I have two things to say City,
Cats are the devil... Except my little Pistol, he's too afraid of my birds.
And I'm sorry for the lose of you're bird and your other birds leg.

Coingratulations on your Grand Champion wheat bread!!!!!!
It is wonderful that you have managed to expand the poultry enthusiasts among the 4-H group. That is awesome.

Congratulations also to Dandelion on her championship picture. It is a gorgeous picture and deserved an award.

Went to the Jones auction this evening to sell some horse stuff we don't use and visited with NNbreeder's wife,Teva, and her mother. Also visited with Misty who used to be Auctionlover and now has a new screen name that I don't recall.
Someone sold 3 gorgeous large roosters - they only brought a dollar each. There were a bunch of rabbits - small lops mostly - they sold for $3-5 each, including their cage/container. Not a good auction for random sellers of poultry and rabbits.

Carla - I enjoyed the picture of the big green truck and its passengers. That really is a huge truck and I imagine that parking it is a challenge. You would definately want to put it far out in the parking lot so no one would bang their doors into the side of the truck and scratch the paint.... or so you wouldn't back over small vehicles that are foolish enough to get directly behind that monster truck.

Thanks so much countyroad. I hope you make it to POOPS.

Dauchand, I can atually dtand up in my pen, and coop where the pigeons are. I'll be installing some ^ perches inside for them, and building a few nests as well.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll get the nerve one day to let them out to "ROLL"

Someday I will get there. for petes sake I only live a few miles away........always busy it seems, hope to see you there soon.things are going way to cheap for sellers though

It was definately a buyer's auction this evening. We PO'd 2 saddles because the bids weren't high enough. There was soooo much stuff tonight! We couldn't put our stuff into the auction area when we first got there, because there wasn't any room left. There was just a narrow aisle between the two sides of the ring and we had to wait until some stuff got cleared out before we could set the saddles and racks inside the ring. There were a lot of people bidding though and that was good. But yes, if you want inexpensive used tack - or inexpensive new tack - the Jones auction is a good place to go.

Here is yet another example of why I am convinced there is a special place in heaven for teachers.........

After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said:
'Let me see if I've got this right.
'You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.
'You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
'You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.
'You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.
'You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.
'You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.

'You want me to do all this and then you tell me. . ..... I CAN'T PRAY??!!'
