Mine just had an upper respiratory junk. They are fine now. They do it about this time every year. I think it is because they are sissies and when the weather changes they freak out. I also have a tendency to be overcrowded this time of year. Too many birds from spring. I had 22 roos I got rid of and you would be amazed at how calm the hennies are now.

The Snarkies (as I call it) is basically just sneezing. Out of 65 birds maybe 7 of them got it. One or two of those got the rales and I shot those up with Tylan for three days, and they are fine. I don't have CRD or MG thank God. And I have not had to cull any. Al and I discussed this at length on the phone the other day. Culling vs. Medicating etc. It's all in what you are keeping your birds for and what you want out of your program. Mine are pets and company! So I don't cull for little stuff. But I got several birds last fall at sale that had some kind of kidney deal, and I culled them all. I got LS-50 to treat many birds and Tylan to treat few birds if I feel like it. It's hard not to get freaked out sometimes at the magnitude of treating depending on how many birds ya have...Some just cull cause it's easier, cheaper, or they are breeding and don't wanna perpetuate it. It's all in what ya wanna do. Mine aren't going anywhere unless they are roos and most people just process them so I am not breeding for strength. I read an article once recently can't remember where a lady tried keeping her birds free of upper respiratory crud by culling... the longest she could last was 18 months. Too many wild birds carry it now.... too easy to transmit in spite of heavy duty bio-security.

My deal is (today, might change by tomorrow) I don't have hundreds of birds. They are my pets. I get companionship and eggs. I will treat to a certain extent. They get funky, slow and quit eating, I cull. As long as they are looking sharp and ambulatory, I'll give it a go. Three days on Antibiotics, and vitamins. Then they are on their own and the foregoing applies. Whack!

hi everyone- i was cleaning out where i had had duchess, and found an egg, probably 16 days, when i held it up to a flashlight it had speckles inside- does that mean it is no good?

be cool if it was hatchable, but it would conflict with poops...

Excellent job, Grace!

That's a lot of birds and rabbits. You did a ton of work. You didn't even mention the main building entries. You definitely set high standards for youth and adults alike.

You have some amazing Hamburg Bantams. They are keeping up their reputation. I was thinking you had won the Open All Others class with your Ameraucanas.

Oh, don't be surprised if your Modern Game roo comes up missing. Just don't come looking at my house... Kidding. Those birds are so interesting.

See ya later at the fair!

Got it down to 80% or so, more than enough room for some more messages.
