not sure if it would work on larger chickens, but the silkies got baths, then powdered with permethon poultry dust, less harsh i was told, the little silkie was really infested, i was so naive i thought the white fluffy stuff on her cheeks was fuzz, till i got to looking close after her bath and these things started crawling up my arms and into her face- yuk! grabbed some cooking oil, doused her head to kill the majority of them then bathed her in dawn, she gets brushed every day since i am trying to get the dang eggs off of her....

I like but it doesn't have every breed. It is a good book though.
I would like to go to a book store and sit down with allof the chicken books and then buy the best one.

I know I liked the book and wanted to spend more time looking at it but wanted to visit with the chicken folks there more! Looks like I got two books on my list!

Now that's funny! My husband just asked me if I had plans to get more chickens at POOPS. I told him I wouldn't bring home any more than I took there so I'm thinking the chicks are gonna have to go to someone else! Silly!

You can buy them. Heck, I just sold out of EE's and Ameraucanas earlier this year and now I want some more. What is wrong with me?

I'm actually thinking of getting some ameraucana hens to breed with my black copper or blue copper marans roos for some olive eggers. Gotta get me some of them army green eggs! There is an ad for olive eggs for sale listed under Hatching Chicken Eggs - Buy Sell Trade » Unique Olive Eggs F/S for only $100 a dozen! OMG!

Actually, I'm buying a dozen from another BYC'er for a much better deal, but I should create some with my own birds too!

MOnty I am convinced that quail just hatch whenever they think you forgot about them or when they think they can make a break for it and roam the house. Wife found two wondering around this evening. They are possessed! Got any more maran type extra roos that might be on the small side???

Hear Ye....Hear Ye...I am finally and officially mama of my first baby showgirl hatched at 5:23 weighing in at 2 oz.

I posted just this morning asking how the heck could I get a showgirl cause the 3 that had hatched were not showgirls. Low and behold I came in from work and there sat a showgirl naked as could be staring at me in the bator. I was yelling like a banchee indian.
