P&B, they showed it at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art last month. Too bad you missed it! I didn't even think to mention it here when we where planning on going. Sorry!
I have some mixed breed layers, a few buff orps, and some Welsummer crosses that I need to sell. Most of them will lay some sort of dark egg but not as dark as a pure Marans or Welsummers.
If anyone on here wanted some gold Campines, I might sell some but I don't plan to take those to auction.
I need to sell some roosters too but you know my weakness for those guys.
Most folks hate em but if I could just get them to lay eggs they would be the only chicken I would own.
I am looking for two old (long spurs old) roosters that are heavy - for someone who wants to butcher his own roosters and make coq de vin. Hopefully, there will be some of that variety at the Blanchard auction.
As for hens, I would be interested in a couple of dark egg laying hens. I don't care if they are "pure" anything since I don't raise my chickens in a manner that will keep the eggs of a pristine lineage - I only have Americauna roosters with my laying hens.
That is what I am aiming for. It was my whole reason for getting the five acres here 15 years ago but just couldn't get the family on board. I am now trying to get back into it on my own. I will do it myself and if they will not eat what I raise or grow.... well, they can eat what they want. I will be butchering my first batch of chickens soon and maybe that will help change their minds lol
I can't make it down for the showing but would love to have a copy of the movie.
Have you butchered any cornish yet? I know you have started raising them for meat but wasn't sure if you had any large enough to eat yet.

Pepper,
If you have a bunch of chickens you need to butcher, you might consider taking them to the new processor located West of Tahlequah in Gideon. They will process them for $1.50 per bird. Let me know if you want a phone number for them.
I think I saw something on the Oklahoma Sustainability listserve about getting "Fresh, the Movie" for private showings. I will look for it - unless Buster has the information handy

I know this is silly but where exactly is the Blanchard auction and where is Blanchard? Is it far from here? I guess depending on how Jason is feeling we have him re scheduled for his surgery tomorrow at 11 am we might go if the place is not terribly far.

PS: Is Al serious? I didnt see anything out of sorts on the threads but then again I have not read all of them since I was on last night... just the few that I have posted on today...
I gotta go on my evening walk if AL pops on tell him I will bake him a pie if he comes back to the THREAD... Who else am I going to bug that lives here in ELGIN... Bugging Jason is no funny because he lives with me
Hey Les, The legendary "Madagascar" roo was acting weird this evening, Staggering around when he walked and just sat hunched up when he was still. He was fine yesterday and I didn't really notice anything wrong this morning but I didn't check that close then.\\
I am thinking maybe botulism. But I am not sure from what.
