Here is what a bird looks like when he is serious, and if he is pointing at you there is trouble coming.

I never do handle my roosters much, that way I am that big scarey thing that comes in the pen and it is very rare that I ever get challenged. Many times if you handle the roosters too much then you become part of their flock, to be put into line by them if needed.

You are going about taming him down the right way. I used to sit on a bucket with a can of scratch and toss it around my feet. In time they figure out where the feed is coming from and will jump up into your lap.

My calendar in gmail is set to send me an email so that I can remind you to put the button quail eggs in the hatcher. I want you to be very successful with them, so you can sell me some.

I am going to hitch the trailer onto the magic poultry van in the morning, when there is more daylight. I have to be at my meeting across town by 7:45 in the morning, and stop for Krispy Kreme donuts on the way. At least since I am the one bringing the donuts, I can choose the kind that I like best.

Yep the Nubians have good color to them. Usually the more color they have the better people like them. Teva is getting her herd switched over to the Lamanchas though. Sould like they are nice goats.

Your comment about roosters being to tame makes sense. I have been asked to rehome/rehabilitate roosters for friends in the past, because the rooster had become agressive toward one of the family members while being a favorite pet of another family member. Once they have that tendency to attack, I give them 3 chances - and flying lessons across the yard feet first - after that, they are soup.

I had a little bantam rooster that was just as sweet as could be and it was just about the time Alexis was beginnig to walk. I got home one day and Teva was mad cause the rooster flogged the baby.

If course I said I was sorry and that I would pen him and when Lexi came in to show me the scratches she got it all became clear. She had on a red shirt with bright blue pants. To the banny she must have looked like the big RIR rooster that he was always going after! Never did send he out like that again, in a red shirt, and everything was fine.

My hubby is so stressed about letting me keep chickens in town right now, he offered to get me the puppy I've wanted for 2 years if I rehomed my chickens. You will be happy to know that I declined the offer! I gotta have my chickens!

I don't know why he's stressed out about it. They're still in the garage right now! And the city allows it, as long as I get a permit. He just didn't grow up a country boy, maybe that's the problem. Yes, I married a city boy. Who's also a cop. What was I thinking? Lol
