Hi Teach,

I have marans and americaunas for egg production. I'm a toxicologist and did a maternal transfer study with lizards. Turns out, a high percentage of fat soluble toxins go right through the lizard to the egg yolk. I can't imagine chickens would be much different, so, I don't eat eggs from the store anymore. I started with 5 chickens and now have many more. However, I don't like roosters because they are rough on my girls. If all you do is eat and crow, you ought to be nice! Every time there is a mishap and we get a roo, I try to keep him around and really want to like him but so far, I haven't found the roo love.
