Thanks! And thanks to everyone who has commented on this. Yes, I take the photos from my home observatory. I've been at it for about 10 years now.

It sounds so interesting. I cannot even imagine what you must have hooked up to get pictures from that far away. I'm visioning the round dome with a slit and a high powered telescope that is put in place by whirling motors. (Hey, all I have to go on is what TV broadcasts.)

Do you do tours?

Well, if you are already asking about poultry auctions, you certainly have the addictive personality we all love to enable

The first Saturday in November there will be 3 auctions in competition with each other - Cement, Fletcher and Blanchard. Normally, the Blanchard auction is the 2nd and 4th Sat, the Cement auction is the 1st Sat and the Fletcher Auction is the 1st and 3rd Sat.
Maude has an auction every Thursday night, Lexington has an auction on Monday nights - I think and Blue has an auction on certain Tuesday nights. There is a thread on the Oklahoma Auctions with them listed on the first page. Here is the link

Actually it looks like a regular wood building with a metal roof, but there is a supporting structure off of one end of the building and the roof rolls off onto this supporting structure. Cameras, telescopes, mounts... it can get fairly complicated in a hurry if you're not used to it, the learning curve is very steep.

I don't do tours, for safety reasons. The equipement is very expensive, I just share the photos. I do however like to be a guest speaker in classrooms and have done that locally several times when the kids are learning about space.

I for one do not know what you are talking about!

I'll be back in just a minute. I have to go check the incubator. I have a couple that are supposed to be hatching anytime. 1 OEGB Red Pyle and 1 Egyptian Fayoumi I know it's not going to be a big hatch but they aren't laying that well right now. Oh and I have to check the older chicks. My "brooder" is sitting in the living room right now. They are definitely going outside soon with the rest of the chickens. I have made a pact with myself that the next time I go to the chicken auction I definitely will not bring home any unless I have their pen already made. Absolutely! Unless it's a really good deal and they are REALLY nice. I so need to get a pocket APA & ABA Standards.

Okay, okay maybe I do know what you are talking about. Gosh, I just don't want to admit it. Anyway... Hey, anybody want to go to the Durant Auction??? Grace, it's about time you went again. They may have some Silver Spangled Hamburg Bantams... I think the last time Grace came Carla & Gerald was there too.

Durant's Chicken Auction is on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month.

Next one is in two days! If anyone needs directions, I can help.

Edited to add:

The Blue auction is actually on the outskirts of Durant.

I had an insanely busy day at work today. My helper called in sick and no one else was shceduled apparently cause when I left a gutted produce department at 2:30 there wasnt a durn person there! First day of the month and no workers yet the middle of the week, our slowest day, we got the whole deparment there.

Had a nice suprise though, when I got home wife and kiddo had the chickens all tucked in and fed and watered. So there was that I didnt have to worry about, and I was tired so that was a realy nice surprise.

I cheat. When I post a response and am still a few pages behind, I hit the back button a couple of times and I'm right back where I was.

THAT is good information to know - thanks for the tip!

Sounds close enough to what I'm imaging. Next POOPS, you'll have to bring a signed print for the auction. That would be a item many would want to bid on.
