I'll be glad to help if I can. Light is the best way to keep them laying this time of year. They need about 14 hours of light.
Maybe a little extra protein would help also.

The reply box today is set up weird. All smilies on top and none at the side. Anyways, finally got the coop finished and all chickens are out of the house!!!

The brahma roo that was practice crowing quit practicing when he got moved outside.
Took the kids trick or treating sat. night around wayne.
Sunday, played with fil's mini horse. He shares the pasture with caitlin's chickens now and the donkeys got demoted to the scrap yard, poor guys.

This morning on the way to drop joseph off at grandma's house, passed a dead bobcat in the middle of the road. Saw a skunk in neighbors pasture yesterday so dh set traps and caught the neighbors cat.

What a beautiful day here in our neck of the woods... All the animals are enjoying the sunshine... although I must confess I do like some chilly weather... and I miss the SNOW... COLORADO WHERE ARE YOU.. ha ha just kidding... Dont miss the crazy cant drive in the snow drivers though.

now moving on to a chicken topic... the babies DD won in the raffle are finally growing.. the Turken that we named kojak is so cool looking.. I swear if I was in CO with that bird he would be wearing a scarf.... The bantam in the bunch finally sprouted 1/4 of a inch.. ha ha ha

So I just got back from my friend Lewis's house a few minutes ago. He gave me 16 BB Red chicks from his brood stock. I've been after some of these for a while now & once you see the pics of them I'm sure you'll understand why. He also gave me 24 eggs to hatch from this same stock, and a RIR roo, yippee!!

Here are the chicks, 3 days old

Here is one of his hens, they all look just like this one.

And here is the BB Red cock, he is going on 2 years old. All the roos in this line are rose comb and green legged. I think they are awesome!!

I'm going to post some of these photos out in the genetics forum and see if I can get some feedback from those who show or maybe an ABA judge that might be out there. Sure hope I can raise some of these for the fairs & shows next year!!

I did confirm it with the Fayetteville Visitors Center (800-766-4626) to be the correct address for the show.
