Okies in the BYC The Original

We went to the auction at Jones on the way home, had to sit on my hands when they sold some miniature horses. 150 dollars was top money on them.

I had a wonderful time at Shawnee, met Cammie and saw Carla and Gerald again plus hooked up with some friends that I hadn't seen in a while, bought some birds, Silkies, Showgirls and bantam Shamo. Stocked up on meds and got a few trinkets too.

Then I came home to 7 new NN hatchlings in the bator, only five more to go for 100% on shipped eggs.

Hope all the Okies are ready for the cold front hitting today. I'm going out now to prepare. It's supposed to be here about 6 pm. Giving everyone extra hay and more attention now before it's cold later.

I'm getting ready for it! Gathering wood for the wood stove. Making sure all lamps are working in the coop and even put a heater in. Layed down extra hay and sealing off the holes. I have a FULL day today!!

I was there and didn't meet any BYC folks either. I went in around 10:30 wearing my big yellow name tag and people kept commenting and wondering what it was - but no one else had a yellow tag and I decided you'd all just played a joke on me.

So I took it off and gave up. It's always so interesting there though. I had to leave at noon and I guess some folks came later. Oh, well, maybe next year.

Did everyone see the incredibly cute white call ducks in the sale room who were all in a row in that holder? Oh, man, they were so adorable!

OK... they say that with the wind it's 12 degrees already.

Went out and dumped waterers out and added food to last them till the am. If it stays nasty like this they are NOT going out tomorrow. I have eggs scrambled and a flock block left. Dang wind is bitter!!

Big Al here's a smiley for your recent exploits!

Hope y'all are warm and safe!!

Yeah the avatar is sliding chips in just like I was, well I made it to the final table out of 100 people, so that was kinda cool to hold my own with the Big Dogs. yea it is coooold out there but not to bad, I just checked on my chickens in the coop and they had little hats on standing around a fire they made and cheeeeping Christmas songs, hehe.

Dang, I'm sorry I missed the shindig. Maybe we can have a gathering of our own when it warms up a little.

It's gonna be pipe-breakin cold for the next 2 nights at least. Better leave some water running or it's gonna get expensive. The nice thing about living in Oklahoma is that these cold spells never last more than a few days.

Y'all stay in where it's safe and warm. I said that!

Well we had a blast at the show.

Sorry about not talking more slightly cracked! We were dealing! We got two trios of the bantam shamos! Neat guy. He really took time talking to my boy about them especially once he realized I wasn't in on the deal and it was for him and his decision.

Who ever it was that got the moderns...there is a guy in Freedom..Monte Watson. He raises some great ones and a bunch...like thousands! About as nice a feller one could want to talk to...I have gotten a bunch og OEGB from him and my youngest got some brahmas from him.

I like that idea of getting together as our own group...we could do a swap! Lets plan something for the spring...that way we could all hatch some stuff and have a blast. There are ehough of us that rasie enough variety that it could really be a blast! Plus I really want some more goofy pigeons!!!

I really spend too much time doing this when I give tests!

Well, Pooooo........we left mid-morning Friday, so didn't see the
notes about wearing the tags. Is a good thing we did. Blew
a tire on the 5th wheel 15 miles west of Checotah....cost $100 for
a service truck to come that far and change it ! Hubby had forgotten
to put the lug wrench back in after we had some work done on it
last spring. Made it on to Henryetta and bought another tire....
another $100 ! Got to Shawnee, entered the KID's birds, and
crashed.

It was neat to see all the different breeds of birds, but I was
disappointed that there weren't more entries in the Junior
Division. The KID entered 6 birds and got 2 - 1sts, 2 - BVs,
1 - BB, and 1 - RB. I didn't realize that they don't have
ribbons or anything at these shows, so have saved his little
tags and will get them in a frame.

Oh, those little duckies in that wooden box !!!! TJ had a running
fit. If you noticed that little boy with dark hair and big dark eyes,
that spent most of his time right there in front of the fifth little
duck from the right........That was TJ....LOL Hope he wasn't
a bother. But, on top of all the tire expenses and they had
already bought some Old English and Cochins....I shut them
off.

Started home Sunday afternoon and "blew another tire" !!!
Thankfully, hubby bought a new lug wrench when he bought
the new tire, so before we go anywhere else.....there'll be
a full set on that thing. This was quite an adventure.

We'll be at Pryor in March and will make a name tag....LOL

Have a good one !

We blew a tire on the way down also! We lost ours at like 6am. We had to sit around until 8 for a shop to open. That was fun! Luckily the mom mobile has a DVD so we climbed in the back and watched Open Season! It is funny watching that with my boys...they want to know why someone would shoot that little buck!
