Teach I have a few of his birds and you are going to love them. You will find that their personality is unique and they are very people friendly. Be careful though and don't put them around other birds as they can be agressive.

Richard takes great pride in his birds and pays attention to keeping his lines pure. So which ones did you get? The blues that he had were nice birds.

I am going to work on a line of blacks with the birds we have, the wife has four black Shamo hens now that are all full sisters and a nice un-related rooster with just a tad of silver in him.

I am not sure what the boy got...I was dealing in the parking lot. I have a buddy that knows alot about those birds from another time

We did get a blue hen or two...He was very careful in selecting birds I know. They were looking at some grays? and they showed a little fight and he just shut the door on them and selected some others. Nice guy...I almost thought about getting rid of my OEGB and getting those. We keep our birds in breeding cages so no worries about agression towards others. We should get together so you can talk to my boy...those are his and I want him to do it because he wants not because dad is pushing.

We were moving irds around yesterday and several times I walked in and my boy was sitting there holding a bird and they just snuggled up to him.

That is cool. They do the wife the same way, when she comes home from work I know when she turns off the hiway a half mile away cause they all start crowing. Same way when she goes to work in the morning.

The secret to showing is finding a breed that you can be overly passionate about and it looks like he has.

What fun! I loved going to the Shawnee show, as always

Got to meet up with countyroad1330, okcarla, and chickengurl again. And got to meet slightlycracked, mcfarlandteresa, and PouletsDeCajun for the first time
smile.png
Sorry to all the ones who I didn't get to meet - we got there around 1:00, and I wore my yellow name tag until we left at 4:00.
I was able to snag some of you for pictures with the BYC Mascot, and I will be uploading those later today.
I surprisingly, and sadly, bought no new birds.

Slightlycracked, great meeting you

I have been talking to Mr. Bates about those bantam brown Leghorns since the last show, but I just don't have enough space for a new breed
sad.png
I hope you enjoy them, though
smile.png
Did you know that the winning Brown Leghorn at this show was out of his stock?

Dandelion007, besides the fact that I was runing around like a chicken with it's head cut off (no pun) the entire fair week, I do actually remember meeting you, too
smile.png

We have the meeting at 6:00, but you could leave a little early if you needed to
smile.png

Carla, glad to see you again

I will definitely need to plan better for the next time we will see each other, and ask you to bring a Spitz rooster and probably some Egyptian chicks by then

Teresa, sorry for not getting to talk more - it was just so loud!

Teach97, we are planning on having another ChickenStock this spring, so that could double as a swap meet.

Chicken Stock?!? Sounds fun...do we need to bring our own smokes

I'll bring parakeets! one for you and one for me! Bad joke i know!

I just try to give my boys the opportunities I didn't get but wanted. Animals are not for everyone but I so wanted things as a kid and couldn't have them that now I go a little crazy. But my classroom is filled with stuff...of course this last week before the break is no fun! I hate tests! I have to sit and be quite! The kids laugh at me...the only teacher with an IEP of ADD!

Just found the Okie thread. I'm Jamie, I live outside of Wayne. We just started with chickens this year. We have 4 banties. We also have 3 guineas.

It's COLD here right now!! I've been out in the shed working on our new coop we're building. Got to get them in something nicer so they don't freeze. Been keeping a light out there until we get the new coop done.

Man, I am sick that I didn't get to go to the show. I am glad that everyone who went had a good time. I wish everyone could have met.
A spring get together sounds like a good idea. Of course we can always meet up at an auction about anytime.
Lets all try and figure a time in the spring when we can all get together.

TJ's Na-Na, I did see the little boy with dark hair and big eyes at the call ducks in the wooden multi-box! In fact, I asked him if the cute calls were his. That's your little guy? Aww, wish we could have met up but we didn't get to stay long. Maybe next time...

Auction? You can't use that word with us addicts! It just isn't nice!

What auctions are the furthest west that regularly have birds and such? We don't have anything regular in the panhandle. March or so works for me! We should be done with goat showing and basketball and not into baseball!

Welcome Jamie! What kind of bantams? We have OEGB, Shamos, brahma, (these we are keeping)...but we have some others we could part with if you need some! Give us a holler! We will have others come spring I am not hatching for awhile...too many waters to keep unforzen!!! 9 degrees this morning!!
